I tried many times to unlock bios for 5530, also with patcher from REX98. Also tried generic 5530 image file from post 73. Laptop only shows light on startup button but doesn't do something. I'm using Neoprogrammer, standard read/write.

I tried to remove the password with the patched original BIOS, but after clicking Alt + F, the laptop turned off.
Even after reflashed to the original BIOS, the problem persisted.

Hi, after 3x Latitude 5530 laptops further all with same issue after patching bios, I really need your help.
Everytime after patching, the laptops only shows light on power button for 1 minute (sometimes a second cycle start with after the second minute a short lightning white led). No fan, no keyboard lights, no display, no startup.
When i put back the original flash file (it's verified with filecheck between two dumps) the same issue. So i don't know if only a new modified file wil help. I cannot find a second SPI chip on the mobo to flash.

I cannot find another chip with same fysical size (wson8) on the mobo, or with 128 printed on it.
                        Please help me find.

I was confused about chip's physical size, but it was done with the same adapter/probe. Please find attached the 16MB file (compressed it's very small, but I took 2 dumps and file check said they were identical)

Thanks again! I flashed the 32MB chip with the new file, but same result ;-(

I think the 16MB file is not ok enough, I tried this file on a second 5530 laptop and it got the same issue with yellow led when push on power button.

                                        Hello,

I have a DELL Latitude 5530 with a BIOS password. I bought it from a company (being aware of the issue). I wanted to practice BIOS dump manipulation.

I made a backup of the BIOS and tried rex98's program (Dell 8FC8 Patcher), but without success. (Maybe I made a bad backup of my original BIOS.)

I am using the CH341A with ASProgrammer and NeoProgrammer.

Since this manipulation, my PC no longer turns on. 😢

The bios where the password is located is 32MB, you posted the 16MB bios... that's why you shouldn't have touched it..
