Hi.
I'm dealing with a persistent boot issue on a Surface Laptop Go (Model 1943) after a motherboard replacement.
The original motherboard was burn to a crisp (CPU power rail burn a hole in the motherboard); so I got myselft a replacement but din't manage to get it working yet.
Situation:- Original SSD was BitLocker-encrypted.
- Motherboard was replaced with a (supposedly) known-good donor board.
- Device powers on, shows Windows logo, but gets stuck — no spinning dots, no activity.
- Cannot enter UEFI (Volume Up + Power does nothing).
- Cannot boot from USB (Volume Down + Power also hangs).
- Without an SSD present, the board doesn’t power on (normal for Surface?).
What I’ve tried:- Swapped in a brand-new blank SSD → same result.
- Wiped original SSD externally → same result.
- Created official Surface Recovery USB → no boot.
- Flashed BIOS from (unknown) donor board → no change.
- Swapped BIOS chip from the original board → still stuck.
- Tried multiple UEFI/boot key combos.
Cloud this be a ME firmware mismatch or missing?
Could the original BIOS be corrupted or have missing contents?
Attached I'm sending the BIOS dump from the new motherboard. If anyone could have a look at it and a possible fix that would be much appreciated.

Hi, just to clarify — I didn’t actually ask for a BIOS password removal. My request was something completely different, which is why I created a new topic. I’m asking for a BIOS integrity check on a donor board, not for password removal. Thanks!Comment

The word password has been edited out of the thread title now, so your post is ok here. How many seconds does it stay on the logo for, do you see a slight flicker after 1-2 seconds with the logo carrying on for a few seconds moreComment

Does anybody know how I can recover a bad BIOS on a surface 1943?. What are the steps I need to do and does anyone have a UEFI/ BIOS file that I can flash.Comment

The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..
you need an SPI programmer...here is a video for example..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWWi...nnel=ThisIsHowDue to a lack of donations, server free space at a critical level, and possible closure of Bios Requests all donations are welcome, click:

Cheers for the heads up on this, just one question, where can I get the UEFI/ BIOS file from to write it to the chip? Also where is the BIOS chip located and what is its markings?.
I am new to this particular make and model of device, and appreciate all the information I can get with regards to this.
Kind regards and thanks again

by zeniusHello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...-

by traxformaniaHello,
I'm using TONGFANG "GM7TG7P" model laptop for over 3 years and i'm entering the same bios administrator password everyday. My laptop has Aptio BIOS (American Megatrends, AMI).
But today it's not accepting my password. I'm %100 sure i'm entering the correct password.
I'm trying to reset my bios without success.
I tried :
-I removed the BIOS battery and main battery. Waited for a long time but it didn't work. They already stated in the user manual that the password will not be reset even if the batteries... -

by NopslideHello everyone, I come here to tell you my problem regarding the power-on password. It is not a bios reset demand, and i can't have any access to windows. This is the bios and power-on password that is blocking all other things.
My Omen 15-dh0052nf purchased second-hand was configured with the bios password upon purchase (very simple password :P ).
Having decided to sell it in order to get something more powerful, I reset all BIOS settings and set a blank administrator password. But the power-on password cannot be changed to a blank one so I let the actual password set....-
