Thx b4rdock for your reply. But you did not read I can't see! ... my 5520 does not even power on and my bios had no passwort set. But when i compare the size of my bios-file with others in here, i think much data has been deleted by the pending firmware-update and powerloss.

I have an Dell Latitude 5520
    Service-Tag: 5176QG3
    Mainboard: Southpeak 15

I do not know where i can get more specific infos on motherboard.

Now I ve read it again and the size of the file is just like the avarage.

And once more and the files are equal! Now my question: is anybody in here who can tell me if it is corrut or not?

Do I have to plug off the CMOS Battery when flashing the chip or does it not matter?

Normally the bios chip is powered from pin 8 of the programmer (I remember pin 8), but if there is a voltage drop, a cmos battery is needed.

              Thx hoaca38

NeoProgrammer Reported succsess... Unfortunatelly it does still not power on. i am going to order a new cmos battery, cause i´ve cut the cable to bridge it for a second.

Normaly it only starts programming when a notebookbattery is recocnized AND the power cord is connected. But as i mentioned in an early post it has shut off immediatelly.

Thats why I think, something else is broken when i´ve pulled the powercord.

I am going to read the eeprom and compare to your file as soon as the battery arrives, just to be sure.

The laptop has had several owners and I have no information about its history over the past few years. A friend brought the laptop to me asking for help. Of course, I am categorically against illegal actions. As far as I know, he bought this laptop used and also does not know its history.

I did n`t ask you about the history. Depending on the suffix you might be able to unlock it yourself

                            3.4. Dell

Dell laptops store the password in EC. However, some generators exist depending on the code suffix.
See: https://beta.bios-pw.org/ .If the website is offline try: https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://bios-pw.org/
Note: All passwords must be entered with a US QWERTY Keyboard, you can use a USB one.
                            Note: The 6FF1 suffix has a bug,use your service tag with the 1F5A or BF97 suffix instead,Example: 1234ABC-BF97 .
Note: The list of examples does not include some other suffix codes that do work, such as E7A8 .
Note: If the BF97 suffix does not work try it with the E7A8 suffix instead.
Note: There is no publicly available 8FC8 generator available at the moment.
The CTRL-ENTER-ENTER keystroke after the password only applied to laptops with a suffix (xxxxxxx-8FC8 for example), until Dell also required it in some laptops using System Disable 16-Hex algorithm, on which only the Password+ENTER was needed at first and then in some models you needed the CTRL-ENTER-ENTER to properly delete the system passwords, otherwise the password would remain SET upon the automatic system reboot if just doing Password+ENTER until the proper CTRL-ENTER-ENTER keystroke was performed in certain models.

                                    by Jeff'sTech
                                    Hello everyone.

I have come here with a rather specific question. I was given a Dell Latitude 7420 laptop with a busted screen, and wanted to see if I could refurbish it into my daily driver. I wanted to experiment and see if a 2-in-1 display would work as the chassis of the laptop and 2-in-1 7420 looked identical. I threw in the display and my hypothesis was correct, however, I was greeted with a locked BIOS and since I didn't know the password, I figured I'd try to unlock it somehow. I bought one of those POGO pin probe things for my CH341A programmer so I could read and make...

Hi there masters, recently i got a dell 5400 chromebook and wanted to install windows, i searched the internet and i found out other people also wanting a UEFI bios for this model, i searched there is a R/W legacy, but there are bugs like keyboard/trackpad not working, and hard to install.

so i decided to try to port one, this bios is based on dell 5400 windows version, i am testing this bios for a week now an found only a little to no bug at all in windows 10, or only a minor issue
in windows 11 sound driver compatibility, but overall its ok, for me i can deal with it, 😅😅😅...
