  • Thanx for your fast reply hoaca388.

I bought another pin-connector, same result. I do not get any data. It seems that NeoProgrammer reads data, when finished, it says success. But it is only FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Do I have to do the 3.3V-modification to my CH341A(Black)? I used W25Q256JV with NeoProgrammer and on the chip is written Winbond 25Q256JVEN.

On the DELL Latitude 5520 with XMC 25RH256CXIQ it worked totally well. Reading and writing. but not on W25Q256JVEN. But why...

  • Hello Community.

    I have here a Dell Latitude 5440
    IBD40 LA-M401P
    Rev: 1.0 (A00)
    ST: DZRJGY3

I tryed to get a binary file of the 6x8 first and opened in UEFI-Tool. It does not look like an valid bios file. I used NeoProgrammer with W25Q256FV. When i open a file posted by a member, i can see all the modules in UEFI Tool

    EDIT
Ive read the IC twice and compared the files, which are identically
    EDIT2:
just recognized the files are completely empty
looks like the pogo-pin-tool does not work here. the solder-dots are...

  • Hi... i am 42 years and had first contact to pc with an 486 dx2 66. Did a lot of stuff and tryed replace bios chips in the past. But never with success.
I bought a CH341A Programmer and a pogo-pin-tool for the 6x8. Wanted to get my Dell 5520 back to live. It had a pending firmware update. It was just rebooting and i pulled the power cord, before the firmwareupdate would be able to start. Also the plug of the battery was not sitting correctly, so the 5520 normaly dont begin with an firmware-update.

Thought it might be an bios-issue but dont look like this. Already got a binary...

  • i verifyed, the data on the ic are exact what you posted. I am giong to try an older one of the post on 06-17-2024, 02-54 AM.

    EDIT:
Does not work either.... for me, the notebook is dead....

  • Thx hoaca38

NeoProgrammer Reported succsess... Unfortunatelly it does still not power on. i am going to order a new cmos battery, cause i´ve cut the cable to bridge it for a second.

Normaly it only starts programming when a notebookbattery is recocnized AND the power cord is connected. But as i mentioned in an early post it has shut off immediatelly.

Thats why I think, something else is broken when i´ve pulled the powercord.

I am going to read the eeprom and compare to your file as soon as the battery arrives, just to be sure....

  • Do I have to plug off the CMOS Battery when flashing the chip or does it not matter?...

  • Thx b4rdock for your reply. But you did not read I can't see! ... my 5520 does not even power on and my bios had no passwort set. But when i compare the size of my bios-file with others in here, i think much data has been deleted by the pending firmware-update and powerloss.

I have an Dell Latitude 5520
    Service-Tag: 5176QG3
    Mainboard: Southpeak 15

I do not know where i can get more specific infos on motherboard.

Now I ve read it again and the size of the file is just like the avarage.

And once more and the files are equal! Now my...

  • OK... Thank you. Worked. At least to get the input of the chip. I used a pogo-pin-tool to bypath soldering. Reading was successful, verifying not. But its a contact problem, because the abortion was at different positions. Also i got an Error immediately when i tryed again. Maybe you can see a coruption of the bios-file or a clean file. I am going to find a way to verify tomorrow successfully and a way to hold contact to write to the chip.

Thanks for the support SMDFlea and the hole community. CU tomorrow...

  • Its a XMC 25RH256CXIQ PPF83600 01 2128U Chip. I tryed to use the CH341A Programmer-Software ... but there is only 1 Chip in the Chip-List with 32MB and didnt work as well to get a 32MB-File after safeing the file. I can read and get data, and i can verify successfully. So i think the Chip is working fine.

The Problem, i think sits in front of the pc

  • I am now able to read the chip. But when i try to save the bios, the file has just 4mb or less... depends on the chip-setting. i tryed to read the biggest winbond chip-setting but i cannot find 32MB. The Output-File should be 32MB, shouldn´t it?

And the CH341H cannot detect the Chip... I think its broken...
