Re: GigaByte Aorus X7V7 BIOS request

The serial you posted is different to the one in the bios

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ighlight=aorus Post #19 same bios .

Try X7V710.B0D and X7V710.D0D.BIN .The D0D version is RAID.If neither of those boot then the problem is somewhere else.If it boots and you want to change the serial/win key you`ll need to use a hex editor.

Re: GigaByte Aorus X7V7 BIOS request

      That was the GTX1070 version.

Will that make any difference or it might have a separate BIOS for GFX?

looks like it is something else....

with the BIOS from above, the power button lights up then powers down after 10 sec, then if I press the power button again, the light stays on but nothing else.

                  north bridge gets warm

                  5v present
                  3.3v present
                  1v present

all looks like they should be, but... does not power on...

Hey there. I have the same exact variant of the laptop you have (X7Y7 with a 1080). I updated my BIOS yesterday using the OEM app "drivers update" from gigabytes website. For some absurd reason it installed the X7X7 BIOS (1070 variant). Now the laptop isn't dead at least but installing GPU drivers is a lengthy process since the SUBSYS_ID of the GPU is changed to that of a 1070. I tried downloading and flashing the X7Y7 BIOS from their official website but that executable only sees the X7X7 BIOS that's currently running and it rejects to install. Is there anything can be done to fix this? Thanks in advance.

You can try to make a backup of your current bios region by using FPT ,Flash Programming Tool .Run it from the command line .(not powershell). Post your backup in a zip or rar .

                          FPTw64.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin

Try this bios, unzip from the folder and flash using the command:

                              FPTw64.exe -bios -f biosreg.bin

Error 368: Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space.
                                FPT Operation Failed.

Is there a way bypass this write protection?

Edit: Also currently I don't have a programmer on hand so if you think it's too risky please do tell.

Yes i forgot about that. Try this new bios, flash with AFU64 or try running flash.bat .AFU should bypass the protection, if it doesn`t you`ll have to buy a programmer.

EDIT: Flash the X7V710.B0D version,i have added your win key to it .

                                  .

Alright I'll give it a shot once I get the programmer.

Edit: It flashed successfully but it's still X7X7. Only thing that's changed is the bios version, It's older now.

Nope. I should have if it worked. I also checked the SUBSYS_ID in GPU-Z and it still shows 1070s value.
