Asus Aspire Cloudbook A01-431-C8G8 Bios pw help

    Hello,
I'm new to this forum - but I am glad to have found it.

I've tried everything I could find for this thing. It's not your typical motherboard with jumpers, or a battery, or a button ... or anything traditionally useful. In fact, I've got a few images I'll post.

I literally spent five hours last night scraping the web for an answer. I've tried the generators, but they only get me into bios - they don't clear the password, not eve with all the little tricks that are supposed to.

I found this forum because there was a post asking for a bios dump for this exact model. Given that there was speak of oscilloscopes and reverse engineered schematics of said model - I knew I was in good company

You all probably know way more than I do when it comes to circuit design and probing; so hopefully somebody is willing to help out; I would be extremely grateful.

Not only is the admin pw not what I thought it was, but the boot device is not being recognized. I know it's there, and I know it still works because I can boot with a thumb drive and browse the files just fine.

Previously I had installed Kubuntu - so I thought maybe it was a bad MBR. Now, I'm not 100% sure with how exactly mmcblk0 device types break down in that respect; but I figured a reinstall would fix it - but it didn't.

Now, because the admin portion of the BIOS is grayed out, and the drive is still not being recognized; I'm sorta in the dark.

So - here come the pictures

At first I thought this button under the hole in the case was some sort of bios reset given the little icon there next to the hole. But, it's not. It just shuts the whole thing down.

Then I tried unplugging it, disconnecting the battery, and jumping anything I could find on the board that even sort of possibly looked like they were there to be jumped. Nope.

I looked for CLR1 and friends on the board and couldn't find anything.

Then I asked on Acer's forums - and they shut me right down :P hah

I even tried different patters of pushing that button and holding down keys on the keyboard ... thought I would get creative - tried just about everything short of typing in "Justin Bailey" while holding the hole-button down (technically called the "reset button" ... who would have thought?)

So ya. Stumped ... as in, utterly dumbstruck.

It's going to be something stupid simple, isn't it? God ... ok ... I'm ready ...

Know that any help anybody give me will be cherished for eternity and you'll be my one and only hero for the next decade.

    Thanks

Post your bios backup. You will need to use an SPI bios programmer ,such as CH341A,EZP2019, RT809F,TL866II .

      Really ... huh.
Ok - cool. I just installed flashrom and I've ordered a couple of different programmers.
Thank you for being willing to help

I'll be back with the bios backup in a day or two

[TUTORIAL] fix asus bios with bios from asus web support (by razor_amd)
              by razor_amd
With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

Asus ROG Ally X -RC72LA - changed hidden bios settings with 'Smokeless-UMAF', won't get past boot logo
              by throwaway327
ASUS ROG Ally X - (Handheld Gaming PC)
              Model No: RC72LA
              Serial No: SBNVKD001014459

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

              ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
              by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
              Some issues
              A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

              Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

Need real mobo dump of BIOS v402 for ASUS PRIME Z590-A - stock image no help
              by DynaxSC
              Hi,

I have a serious problem to program the Z590 chipset SRAM with a Management Engine after replacing the chipset.
The new chipset is factory new and is not containing any Management Engine. Any attempts to program it into the chipset under Windows ends with a failure (eg. Error 20: Management Engine Device not present, or something similar).
Due to the lack of the ME several ports on the board, including all M.2 ports aren't working, booting OS works only on USB. So it's now other way, as to program the chipset with a ME.

Usually on ASUS boards it worked...
