They probably assume it will be 8MB. Also sometimes it has the same package as the BIOS chip (SOP8/SOIC8).

25Q80JV is the most famous spi chip around here.
I don't understand why rookies likes him the most, probably because of the number 80 on the marking.

I found an other one ; 25Q128FVSQ
seems to be the right size, but the read freezes (neo 2.2.0.10)

I got my t470 20HE corrupted in a bad flash (no boot).
The winbond is a 25Q80JV 8Mb chip, but all I see here is 16Mb files for this bios.
I used Neo programmer and a ch341 to read the bios.
Am i missing something?

I have a T470. The Bios is corrupted. It starts, i see logo and then it show the normal screen that there is no system on hard drive.
But when i press F1 to go to bios, the screen is black. I cant go to bios.

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:

Hello, I was flashing the bios but now the machine does not come, the battery indicator turns orange when charge is plugged in. As soon as it plugged by charger or battery the power button and escape blinks once then fade out Sometime it blinks 3 timess . With the back case off i can see the fan spins a little then top, but once i press the button it spins a little then stop and repeat for a while until stops. I have attached the bios dump. Hi, I have an MSI PRO B660M-G DDR4 board with damaged BIOS and i need a bios dump from a real board, along with MAC, UUID and Serial Number info (eg. a BIOS screenshot and pictures from the board stickers).
I need to reconstruct the bios on my board, based on another bios image form a real board - meaning a bios image containing MAC address, UUID and Serial number. A stock BIOS is not suffiecient, as it is impossible to discover where the MAC, UUID and SerialNumber are stored.
