I did exactly the same on my T470 and it DID NOT WORK! I got the black screen and a musical melody played! I flashed the original BIOS back and now it is booting again but still LOCKED! What I need to change? I followed the instructions by the letter!Comment
-
Found solution, used another locked bios dump for T470 from the internet from 2018, applied patch on it and wrote it to my BIOS chip.
Then it did its magic.
After that, I rewrote the original BIOS and reset it to factory defaults.
And it worked!
I am guessing that the autopatcher does not work anymore on newest BIOS revisions as mine is version 1.79 from late 2024 - the latest one. But it did work on older ones, so the version from 2018 worked.Comment

Hay Can I have that T470 BIOS dump from 2018 or maybe directly the patched one? I have T470s and is locked. going to try on that.Comment

I don't have it here as I am on vacation now. Try finding one online... there are multiple posts of people asking for unlock and providing their dumps. Just pick one that is bit older and run a patch on it, then write it to your chip and boot the pc. After that remember to restore the original dump back!Comment

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to do this process on a T480. I've followed all the instructions to the letter, dumping the existing BIOS twice, comparing the hashes and then patching one of them. However when I write it back to the system, I'm greeted with a musical tone, which I believe is error 0001 which is stated as "Reset error (platform reset not de-asserted)".
Unfortunately patching the original image back results in the same music and a black screen. I'm pretty stuck on where to go from here, if anyone could offer any advice?
Thanks a lot!Comment

I have download the BIOS dump from my Lenovo computer. I want to remove computrace
I already have a BIOS Admin Password on it. I have tried Autopatch software, but it keeps on saying that bios dump is corrupt.
Please advise on how to remove the Computrace from the bios dump.
This is for a Lenovo M720q Mini/Tiny

by macabookHello everyone,
I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
- External display (HDMI) shows

by jbonavitaHi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
Some issues
A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized
Things I tried
1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...-

by zeniusHello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...-

by WahazHello,
I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....-
