Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

Update: I found original factory Bios for T480, when i flashed that I was able to get to password prompt again.

I patched that bios and I have a stuck Lenovo splash screen again, not doing anything on keyboard clicks.

    thanks

        Thanks Guys, it worked finally.
Kudos to everyone here, great community.

        1) (first power cycle after burning patched bios) i had to wait for laptop to restart a couple of times before the splash screen appeared. F1/Enter keys were not working.
        2) Once Lenovo splash screen appeared (where it would get stuck), I had to reboot(second power cycle) and keep pressing F1/Enter even before splash screen could appear (i.e while the screen is black) to get prompted.

For anyone who doesn't have original Bios. you can download original factory bios from this post.

        Fixed on T480 : Confirmed

        Thanks to all again.

Reference U49 is usually for the bios chip in ThinkPads, so U49 must be the correct chip, 16MB (or 128Mbits).
Have you tried to use original bios file and see if the laptop powers on?
Yeah I flashed the original BIOS back and it's still giving me the musical beeps and nothing on screen. Is there an anti tamper switch on T470s?

If you are using CH341A programmer, that may be the cause of the problem. When you program the BIOS chip, does it end with a successful verification?
How did you check that all 3 (original) files were identical?
I suggest to look for Colibri programmer software, download it and use it for the job. Then use someone elses bios dump from another ThinkPad T470s and programm it just to make sure your ThinkPad still works.

I used AsProgrammer to take the bios backup and compared the 3 backups with hxd. I will try Colibri and report back.

Hello, I've removed bios using Autopatcher on Thinkpad L580. I used CH341a and connected pins directly to the motherboard bios chip. It worked like a charm. Now I'm trying to unlock Thinkpad X1 Carbon 3rd Gen 2015. I bought it recently and found out it was bios locked. I tried using CH341a, and it seems to find something, but both lights on the CH341a controller light up and AsProgrammer cannot find the bios chip model. If I choose the bios chip model manually and read from the chip it gives a bunch of zeros. If anybody can help it would be a big help. Thanks ahead.

                                            ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
                                            by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                                            Some issues
                                            A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                                            Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

                                            by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                            Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

                                            Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...
