Its improtant that you make a good backup of the original bios.Try to make a backup using NeoProgrammer,ASProgrammer or Colibri software ,theyre all available on the forum, search for them.

Hi how are you getting on with it. Out of interest have you disconnected everything of the board what you can then try reading the chip .if still don't work can you remove chip of board ?

What's the programmer model you are using? Some programmers software corrupt the readings/writings from/to the chip, for this reason I recommend reading and saving the chip contents 3 times, then verify all the 3 files are exact copies.

I’m using CH341A. I backed up the chip 3 times and compared them to make sure it was consistent. I noticed there were two chips that looked like BIOS, U15 and U49. I patched the U49. Do you know if it’s the correct one?

I should mention that it makes a musical beep sound.

Reference U49 is usually for the bios chip in ThinkPads, so U49 must be the correct chip, 16MB (or 128Mbits).
Have you tried to use original bios file and see if the laptop powers on?

                                        Hello

                                        I have a Lenovo T480, 20L6 model.
while getting my hands dirty with ch341a I think I messed something up.

Problem: to begin with my bios was locked with password.

Things I am not sure of
                                        1) I am not sure if my board's bios chip is MXIC MX 25L12873F. (I think it is) (it's next to RAM module)
                                        2) I took backup of above chip, applied the patched bios and laptop started beeping nuts with no display
                                        3) i flashed original bios back, no display and no beeps.
                                        4) finally i'm at a stage where i have lost the original bios dump.
                                        5) I tried T480 patched Bios on Page 14 of this thread and laptop powers on, no beeps this time, display comes on after couple of minutes with Lenovo Splash screen saying "To interrupt normal setup, press Enter" when I do. it does nothing.

currently it's stuck at Lenovo Splash Screen

                                        any help is much appreciated.

                                            by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                                            Some issues
                                            A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                                            Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                            Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

                                            Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...
