Re: HP ProBook 450 G3
This might be late coming, but have same issue with forgotten bios password, laptop still operable but I can't install a new OS, modify an existing OS, run live cds etc. After researching the topic seems its 1, replacement motherboard, 2. desolder the bios chip, and either direct replacement, or place the old bios in a reader, dump the bios and using hex editor zero out the password and rewrite to bios, resolder into place. I'm wondering has anyone had any success using either DMIFIT and WNDMIFIT to create a smc.bin for this model. Apparently using the bios info, such as Serial number and UUID etc, you create a unique file for your laptop and it should reset the Bios. Attached is a guide HP had for employees on how to use these tools. Any help greatly appreciatedAttached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

Re: HP ProBook 450 G3
Thanks for the reply. On the assumption that the SMC method was disabled through bios updates, would it not be true that in some cases, perhaps even my own, where the bios was not updated post 2019, that the SMC solution might indeed work?Comment

Re: HP ProBook 450 G3
Forget about smc.bin man, HP stopped providing it since 2019, no one here has the tool to generate smc.file file regardless of the bios version.

Re: HP ProBook 450 G3
I appreciate that. If there is a non-invasive solution that doesn't require soldering or replacing the motherboard, I'd like to thoroughly explore. But the tool to generate the SMC bin is available and I have it, It's called WNDMIFIT, which is explained in the pdf attached in my first post. This file/program was downloaded from this forum.Comment

Re: HP ProBook 450 G3
Enough off-topic! WNDMIFIT is not a tool for generating smc.bin files, and there is no other lazy method for unlocking the bios like password encryption from the dump for example or password generator because I expect you to ask that as well. In short "non-invasive solution that doesn't require soldering" does NOT exist for that model.I appreciate that. Re: HP ProBook 450 G3
So how did you use this .BIN file to successfully solve this issue? Is it dropped into the original firmware folder provided by HP? Is it apart of the BIOS update? How did you make it work?
I have the same issue. Looking to resolve it.Comment

This is the content of the bios chip, you must use a programmer to write/read it.

by AhariHi all,
This is my first post here (I am very new to forums!) and I hope someone can help. I am looking for a full dump of the BIOS of a HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 so that I can get this mini server running again. (BIOS version J06 2019-04-04, chip 25Q064A). I think my board was partially bricked after a failed BIOS update.
I got it second hand in this state and all the normal attempts at bios restoration have not worked. I have even desoldered the chip and tried to load the actual BIOS from HP, but it is missing some parts needed to boot the system.
I...-

by mkdjDear all,
I have a ASUS ZenBook UX480F with the following symptoms:
I suspect it is a BIOS issue. So I decided to try to clean the ME region. I followed the guide on win-raid, and I believe I have done everything correctly. My problem is: when I open the outimage.bin in ME Analyzer, it says that it is Extracted, and not Region, Extracted as it should be. Is it normal, or did I do something not correctly? This is my first experience editing BIOS files.
I would appreciate if someone could take time to explain the issue, so that I can learn. But I would...-

by Habble7The Samsung S49CG934SU monitor does not power on - no LED indicator activity and no response to power button. However, when 21V power is connected, it immediately draws 0.8A of current with no display output. The motherboard processor gets warm, and there is continuous reading activity from the W25Q128BV BIOS chip.
Suspected Cause:
I suspect the BIOS may have been corrupted during a power interruption while updating the firmware. The official website provides firmware updates, but they can only be installed via USB flash drive.

by studdy05Hp Probook 450 G7 s# SCD0348W35 had a locked BIOS. Bought BIOS and EC chips off Ebay that were supposed to match this machine - the 450 G7. Flashed in the BIOS on chip i bought using a CH341. BIOS unlocked next boot. Some error to contact HP. Entered BIOS and reset to system defaults and rebooted. Machine worked fine but every cold boot the contact HP message popped and everything else worked as fine. Assumed the error was from EC chip not matching BIOS that i just flashed in. So i flashed in the EC that was supposed to match from the EBay chip i bought and instant brick.
