Re: Asus X541UVK Bios
Hi All, so I found another post with the same issue where just the battery won't charge. However no response. Can this be done for me please.
Could someone modify F541UA bios so it will be read as F541UAK?
Version 307 (F541UA): https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/X5...AAS307.zip
Version 311 (F541UAK): https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/X5...KAS311.zipComment

Re: Asus X541UVK Bios
The file from the ASUS homepage is an incomplete file, you need the original bios file to create a complete bios file.↵

Re: Asus X541UVK Bios
So, look at the image attached: open UEFITool, load X541UAAS.307, extract capsule, save it as .rom file, download AMIBIOS_and_Aptio_AMI_Firmware_Update_Utility, copy extracted file in AFUWin/64 folder, launch AFUWINx64.exe , load saved file, check "Main Bios image", uncheck "program all blocks" then click on "Flash" tab.Last edited by volinakis; 10-31-2023, 03:46 AM.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

by razor_amdWith ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.
For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.
I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.
This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...-

by grimacelordHello,
I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.
I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.
The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.
Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...-

by jbonavitaHi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
Some issues
A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized
Things I tried
1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...-

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.
I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...-

I had 3 people contact me in a week because Windows suddenly didn't boot:
As you can see, all 3 are ASUS computers, but I believe the common factor is the BIOS being American Megatrends (AMIBIOS/APTIO).
The first two recovered just fine after a restart, but the third one didn't and was brought to me. The model is F541UV (X541UV).
Setup allows to add a boot option manually and the operating system boots just fine from both bootx64.efi and bootmgr.efi. However, there is no way whatsoever to save the option(s): upon a reboot the machine goes straight...-
