Re: HP Probook 4540s - BIOS
Hi everyone,
New person here. I have the sameish issue as everyone here. Initially the laptop would power on but with no display, then the fan would start spinning at full speed and the Capslock key would blink continuously. At this stage, in order to power off the laptop I'd have to unplug it as it wouldn't stop by holding down the power button.
I've got the C314 programmer, saved a copy of my BIOS and the proceeded to try ~90% of the Bios dumps from this thread. Unfortunately none worked, however with all of them, the issue was now slightly different. The laptop powers on with a still black screen, after a few moments the fan start full speed but the Capslock key is now blinking 3 times(for a few times) and then stops. Also, I can now power off the laptop by holding down the power button.
It seems that for some people here the problem was resolved when someone 'fixed' their BIOS. Like @peste did in the previous posts.
So could anyone help me with this ? I'll upload the original BIOS dump.

Re: HP Probook 4540s - BIOS
Hello @peste,
I was on a business trip this week but yesterday when I came back home I had the opportunity to disassemble the laptop and flash the BIOS chip with your latest fixed BIOS image. The laptop booted up and now works like a charm! I couldn't have done it without your help.
Many thanks for all you have done! God bless you, man!!!
P.S.: I still have no explanation why the laptop didn't work with your first fix after I unsuccessfully updated the BIOS and then started to work with your second fix. Anyway, all's well that ends well. Thanks again!Leave a comment:

Re: HP Probook 4540s - BIOS
try..Hello @peste,
I ordered new CH341A programmer and compared again the contents of the BIOS chip to the BIOS image you sent me (the one that worked for me before I apply the BIOS update.) I compared bin files read by my previous two programmers and as well as with the new one. I also used AsProgrammer 1.4, CH341A Progammer 1.0, and CH341A Programmer 1.4. That means 9 files read in Windows and 3 files read in Linux (using my 3 programmers with flashrom utility.) All 12 files are exactly the same to your bin file. But still the laptop cannot run.
My last hope is if you can fix my last BIOS (HP_ProBook_4540s__SKU683494-001__S-N_C4Z14EA#ABB.zip__AFTER_UPDATED.bin.zip) that was uploaded in the previous post.
Thanks in advance!Attached FilesLeave a comment:

Re: HP Probook 4540s - BIOS
Hello @peste,
I flashed the chip twice with your bin file (that worked before.) I used two different CH341A programmers, first time I did it under Linux, second time under Windows. And each time I write the image to the chip, I then read it twice and compare with the original file. So I ended up with four read bin files that are exactly the same as the original bin file. So I'm pretty sure that the chip contains your bin image.
I have no explanation why this time the laptop cannot boot. That's why I uploaded the last image from the chip (after unsuccessful BIOS update via HP utility) with the hope that you (or someone else) will be able to fix it just like you did before.Leave a comment:

Re: HP Probook 4540s - BIOS
try again to write the bios that worked the first time, it should work if it worked once... you probably didn't write it correctly, try again..Hello @peste, would you help me once again? I made a mistake to update the BIOS by using HP utility and the laptop died again after trying to reboot.
I flashed the BIOS chip with the bin image you made for me and which worked before. Unfortunately this didn't help. I ended up again with blank screen, Caps Lock constantly blinking and fan spinning few seconds after power on. I attached a BIOS image as it was after the disastrous update, i.e. before flashing the chip again with your image. Thanks in advance for any help provided!Leave a comment:

HP ProBook 4540s - Corrupted BIOS
Hello everyone,
I need help with my HP ProBook 4540s BIOS. For some time I have a problem with the BIOS of my HP ProBook 4540s laptop: once or twice a year the laptop does not boot (black screen, fan spins, Caps Lock blinks continuously.) Each time this happens, after several restarts I manage to enter either into the BIOS or in Windows and then I'm able to update (flash) the BIOS by using the 'HP BIOS Update and Recovery' utility.
Half a year ago, the CMOS battery died, and after I replaced it, the laptop no longer wants to start (with and without the battery): black screen and the fan spins at boot (Caps Lock no longer blinks.)
I ordered a BIOS chip (Winbond 25Q64FVSIG) from eBay with pre-installed BIOS for my laptop model as I suspect my BIOS chip itself is deteriorated over time and no longer holds the memory well. Then the nearby computer service soldered the new chip onto the motherboard but with no luck: still the same behavior on startup. I suspect the BIOS on the new chip is not right for my laptop.
So I think to flash the original BIOS to the new chip that is soldered to the motherboard, but I suspect that the original BIOS image is corrupted. That's why I attached it along with the specs of the laptop and I'm asking whoever is able and willing to look at it and fix it if possible. Thanks in advance to everyone who responds to my request!Leave a comment:

by to5it0Need Clean BIOS/EC Bin File for Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e - Stuck with 0275 Error CMS
Hello everyone,
I am attempting a repair on a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e that is currently stuck at boot with the error: "0275 error CMS" even after setup new bios battery and will not allow me to enter the BIOS/Setup.
This is a critical issue that I believe requires flashing the BIOS chip directly using a programmer (e.g., CH341A/RT809H), as standard software updates or resets are not possible.
I have opened the laptop and identified the main BIOS chip...2 Photos-

by studdy05Hp Probook 450 G7 s# SCD0348W35 had a locked BIOS. Bought BIOS and EC chips off Ebay that were supposed to match this machine - the 450 G7. Flashed in the BIOS on chip i bought using a CH341. BIOS unlocked next boot. Some error to contact HP. Entered BIOS and reset to system defaults and rebooted. Machine worked fine but every cold boot the contact HP message popped and everything else worked as fine. Assumed the error was from EC chip not matching BIOS that i just flashed in. So i flashed in the EC that was supposed to match from the EBay chip i bought and instant brick.

by CityminHi all,
My Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 15.6-inch laptop has no display and won't boot.
The charging red LED lights up, but the charging screen doesn't show any indication.
When I press the power button, the blue LED cycles on and off three times, then the screen doesn't turn on, and the device won't boot.
(I've tried removing the battery and resetting the device, but the issue persists.)

by maanee11Hello Everyone,
I have HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2019 (MACH-WX9) whose BIOS got corrupted i beleive. I have acquired Ch341A SPI flasher to program the BIOS externally. I see that to program the BIOS, i need BIOS bin/hex file which i could use to reflash it externally via the flasher tool.
It seems like the support page of this model no longer exist: https://consumer.huawei.com/be/lapto...ro-2019/specs/
In the website, you can only see specs etc.
I have not tried to extract the BIOS dump yet as I want to see if there is any ray of sunshine...1 Photo-

by m1ch43lzmHi everyone
I noticed on the Xgpro software the BIOS backup files have extra bytes at the end when reading some chips, this is because the Xgpro software also reads the OTP region of those flash chips, and by default will append that region to the saved file
Programmer models: XGecu TL866II Plus / T48 / T56 / T76
Example: GD25LQ128D (1.8V), IC size is listed as 0x1000000 Bytes (16777216 bytes) + 0xC00 bytes, those extra 0xC00 bytes will be appended to the end of the saved file by default, resulting in a file size of 16780288 bytes
There's also an extra OTP Secu.R...-
