Re: Hp zbook 15 g2 bios flash

    Hi

I tried exporting the BIOS with a "Universal BIOS Backup Tool". Not sure if this is the right way of doing it, but if it is:

Could someone please help me clean out the password from the file?

I have attached the info about the laptop as well in a jpg

    Best regards

    Jo

have you tried bios from the previous posts? if none works put the original bios here.

        Hi, thanks for replying.

Yes, I've tried them using Win-key + b when booting, but the caps-lock light is flashing, the screen is black, and nthe fan eventuallyvstarts going really fast, but nothing happens. I uploaded my backed up bios in the previous post (but not sure if it is the right way of doing it with the tool, or if I have to use a chip reader)

Has anyone had anyluck with this
I've tried using the posted .bin files several different ways loading onto a USB key via the HP USB Bios updater tool
Have the same issue as tronsdal
If I use the M71_130.bin HP provides, the USB bios restore loads and works, but of course doesn't clear the bios password.

Are these .bin's being posted only working if you flash the bios chip with an external flash programmer?

HP sucks so hard for bricking their systems with the bios passwords being totally locked out

Yes, you need an external programmer.

Thanks for the answer. I tested them both. The second bios works perfectly. Thanks, saved my day.

It was password deletion, not decryption.

There might be a way to decrypt it but since it's bruteforcing, it might take years

Have a Zbook 15 G2 with BIOS password set on it. I can log onto Windows and everything but I wanted to clear the BIOS password forever. I managed to read the BIOS without desoldering via RT809H and the files seems to be OK as I explored it using HxD and everything seems intact. Can I just write one of the BIOSes above to check if the password has gone, or somebody need to help me by clearing this BIOS backups password ?

                                      Thanks

Help Disabling Flash Protection Range Registers on Lenovo P360 Tiny BIOS
                                            by abhorsen
                                            Hey guys,

Hope you all are doing well. I come here from Win-Raid because I am having issues disabling Flash Protection Range Registers so I can flash my BIOS from within Windows using Intel's IFW tool/using flashrom within Linux, however I cannot due to the above mentioned error.

Here is my thread on Win-Raid detailing the whole process I went through: https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/re...h-gen/95478/27

Essentially I managed to boot into Windows while shorting PINs 1+5 of my audio chip to disable the HAP bit...

Dell Optiplex 7010 micro bad BIOS flash?
                                            by mrrubik
                                            Hi folks,

I got a Dell Optiplex 7010 micro PC (Exact Model) with 8FC8 BIOS and locked out admin password. I attempted to remove the password by patching the BIOS via info from this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...ssword-patcher
After flashing the patched the BIOS, the PC is unresponsive with a solid AMBER power LED (not documented in manual anywhere)

                                            Steps I took:
                                            1. Read BIOS with CH341a, verified hash twice
                                            2. Patched
                                            ...

Is it okay to flash stock bios onto the motherboard's BIOS?

                                            Hi there,
                                            I have a 14" Lenovo Laptop (Flex 5 14ALC05) which has a boot issue.
The little LED on the power button is flashing slowly and nothing happen.
This unit do not have any BIOS button cell battery so I tried many times draining the power but it is still not powering on.

So I decided to flash the BIOS using a cheap programmer.
And I was successfully able to read the content (exactly 16MB file) which BTW is a WINBOND 74m12jwsiq (according to the package inscription - but detected as W25Q128FW in the software - IMSProg on Linux)

                                            I also...

I usually try to figure these things out on my own but am asking for help now as I have been beating my head against a wall.

Backstory, I initially ended up with a CF20 Mk2 with a locked BIOS. I used aptio to read the BIOS and made the adjustments to the .rom file and attempted to write it back with aptio before reading other users problems with that setup. Well it bricked the BIOS go figure. Computer no longer boots, black screen. I found a clean BIOS on this forum but now I am having ME issues. So I would rather hand over the aptio dump(pre BIOS brick) and a hardware reader dump(post...
