                            HP EliteBook 840 G3 BIOS

                            Hi. I got a EliteBook 840 G3, which is password locked. I want to remove the BIOS password. The problem is, that this laptop is having a chip which can't be plugged onto a SOIC test clip, what makes the process more difficult. Is there any other way to remove the BIOS password without desoldering the BIOS chip from the board?

                                have you tried soldering some wires?

                                when i did mine i used a soic to dip adapter.

                                            HP 840 G3 bios for struggling lady

                                            Hi, I have a HP 840 G3, the hard drive is wiped clean no partitions but the bios has administrator password that I don't know. I have a desktop I'm able to use, a external hard drive and 16gb usb drive. I'm trying to transform the HP to a workable laptop for my nursing studies, any help would be appreciated 😁

                                                                                    BIOS Corruption - Cause
                                                                                    So I managed to corrupt my machine by installing linux and enrolling custom secure boot keys. I did choose to enroll the Microsoft keys as well, to prevent any potential bricking due to 3rd party drivers from HP being signed with those keys.
                                                                                    After doing that, and rebooting(it did boot, powerLED, fanspin etc.), the laptop did not give any video output on the LCD or video connectors. I think I was able to get in BIOS and trigger the beeper by pressing ESC....

                                                                                    I have an EliteBook 850 G5. After a Windows update, including a BIOS update, the notebook turns on, but the screen remains black, and the fans spin at high speed—nothing else happens.

                                                                                    I assume the BIOS update failed, so I searched for the BIOS chip.

                                                                                    I found a Winbond chip located between the RAM and the hard drive, which has a size of 32 MB.

                                                                                    However, the BIOS update available on HP's website is only 17 MB in size. I used the update version that was previously installed when the notebook was still working.
