Onlygood if you and your freind worked on the same exact bios. If bios was from another computer it should not be and exact match. It will have differences like in the me region serial # and so on. Just so you know from a learning experience .

You should always upload original file even if it's bad. Any used file won't be of any good unless then where cleaned or the other way would be to merge with the original file a new update.

where do you want me to upload your working probook 4540s once confirm your laptop works in most cases you will need to run the DMI tool to re enter
your serial and other info needed.

Hi you can't just take a bios from another machine FIRST it will have a dirty ME REGION Once a computer boot it's marred to that computer unless it a full new downloaded bios from lenovo or you rebuild ME REGION. Unplug internal cmos battery for like a min plug back in see if it boots . Or put original firmware bios back see if it boots to an external monitor if yes either go to dell download and do the update with in windows if no boot you need use a external programmer and i will upload you a new clean file.
