I noticed there's a lot of unlock request for this model HP EliteBook 840 14 inch G10
The patch won't work if the bios version is latest. use this bin flash both it won't work if you only flash the main you should Flash Both.
first boot press f10 apply factory defaults and restart, 2nd boot reset security settings to defaults and exit.
use BCU and put your original DMI.

For the moment no solution is clear, however some laptops with certain version have found a final solution, just look for rex98 in some posts.

It is too early in the morning and I'm not thinking clearly. I will get a dump directly via ch341a and then post here once I've got a good dump. Thanks again!

Hi, after applying post 120 the password prompts for F9, F11 and F12 were disabled, but unfortunately not F10. After flashing both chips (and re-reading and verifying against supplied bins) the HP Elitebook 840 G10 went through its normal few reboots, but before I got the opportunity to get to a point where I could press F10 to set factory defaults, I was presented with "BIOS Identity Data Recovered: The BIOS has recovered its identity from the Embedded Controller due to data mismatch"

Anyway, please see attached dumps. Hopefully they can help identify a resolution

Hi rex98, yep attempted post # 120 twice before reaching out. Never got the opportunity to F10 to reset factory settings as the "BIOS Identity Recovered" occurred before that

Yes, also re-read both main and EC to verify again against bins. I have tried another two times today with same result.

After the "Recovery" screen I also tried just reflashing the EC. Password still required for F10

dont try anymore, replace super I/O with other which no password. what's your mainboard super I/O?

Managed to solve the issue. I modified your EC.bin provided in post # 120 and cleared NVRAM ActiveRegn.

This time, instead of the EC recovery screen, it threw the "Entering MPM" and was able to F10.

Password now gone. You are a legend rex98.

Probably best to verify attached before use.

No worries, obviously had to add back standard DMI settings, plus MAC, plus Cirrus Discrete Amp Calibration Data. Best to take a full BCU config dump first to be safe.
I'll repeat on another 840 G10 in the next few days.

Oh yes, main from post # 120 and updated EC on post # 156. Flashed both.
