YOU MUST follow these steps :
        1) First boot will delay a few minutes
        2) IMPORTANT: Go to BIOS Setup ( F10 ) and reset to Factory Default (first main page tab)
        3) Restart and enter BIOS
        4) 2nd boot restore security settings to defaults.

                  Hello,
                  here's the situation:
                  • Flashed the file
                  • Got an EC error
                  • Desoldered the chip again
                  • Tried to flash externally
                  • W25Q256JV was damaged
                  • Bought a new chip
                  • Flashed the unlocked file from here onto the new chip
                  • Still got an EC error
                  • Checked and resoldered all points

Now the Caps Lock LED blinks white seven times.
                  Is the hp now broken?

I noticed there's a lot of unlock request for this model HP EliteBook 840 14 inch G9
The patch won't work if the bios version is latest. use this bin flash both it won't work if you only flash the main you should Flash Both.
first boot press f10 apply factory defaults and restart, 2nd boot reset security settings to defaults and exit.
use BCU and put your original DMI.
                                frequently asked questions:
can i use this to my HP EliteBook 680 14 inch G9- yes

This is the both BID U70 and U71 its the most common BID. i don't have U76, but let me know if you want U76.
This bios main is from official website then added VSSTORE and patched so its fast-boot & Clearme.
To determine your BID use hex editor and search U70 or U71 in your main bios bin or EC, you know the rest.

Everything is correct. I flashed your patched bios. when trying to transfer dmi with the BCU program, errors occurred. I unsoldered the chip again and flashed the old bios file. what is interesting is that during the manipulations with the files, the laptop updated the bios to the latest version, and the old file remained at version 01.09.00. after re-flashing the bios updated again. resets of the main bios and security system were required. and many long reboots. in the end, everything works and there is no password!
