i noticed there's a lot of unlock request for this model HP EliteBook 840 14 inch G9 and patch won't work if the bios version is latest. use this bin flash both it won't work if you only flash the main you should flash both.
first boot press f10 apply factory defaults and restart, 2nd boot reset security settings to defaults and exit.
use BCU.

It's the same old problem. The laptop draws over 600mA for 2 seconds, and the fan spins. After that, the load remains at 85mA. I need to explore a different direction.

I solved it on my own, it turns out that version u71 01.11.05 or higher retains the password, I have downgraded the version to u71 01.10.00 using an ec, and a clean bios, it works perfectly, you just have to write the dmi information later with some mpm tool.
Here I leave you an ec and a clean bios of that version.

PD. Make sure your actual bios is U71 too

your bios+EC is very good for 840 G9 with U70 bios family, there are also 840 G9s with U71 and U76 bios family and your bios+Ec will not work. Good job, anyway! 👍
