    820-00165 Sensor Issue

    Namaste,
I have a Macbook 820-00165 that came in for repair with a few components missing. We replaced those from a donor board and the laptop is now booting.
But there are2 major problems, the fan seems to be spinning constantly and the laptop wont go to sleep mode when turn the flap down. It remains on.

    What can be the issue?

Trackpad cable or trackpad itself. Fan will run flat out without trackpad, and SMC_LID goes through that cable as well.

replaced both the cable and the trackpad, still the same.

Resistance at smc_lid of j4800 is also normal.

Lid sensor is in the DC IN board, with the magnet in the lid. You can manually check it by using a magnet over the DC IN board to trigger it. If not working, you can try another DC IN board, LIO cable and inspect J9500. SMC_LID should toggle when the magnet is used.

As far as fan running fast goes, run diagnostics from boot (hold D) and report any errors. I have seen a bad SSD cause this so try another by substitution.
