lenovo yoga 7 14itl5 keyboard and trackpad issue

i've done several clean installations of windows 10 and 11 to try to resolve why the keyboard and trackpad only works in the bios setup. there are no errors in the device manager. since they work in the bios setup then can i assume that this is a software issue?

i think it has something to do with the fact that it's a tablet and a laptop. Perhapos the mechanism that disables the keyboard and mouse whenever you use it as a tablet

i just found out that the customer replaced the screen on this 2 in 1 device and now the screen position is not able to be determined by the software. the keyboard and touchpad is locked as if it's tablet/stand/tent position

Did you ever solve this problem? I am having the same symptoms on a different Yoga laptop and I suspect the sensor to be faulty as well...

check if LID_360D_SW# is 3.3v or no. i think that's the signal for disabling the keyboard/ trackpad when in tablet or tent mode. there is likely a sensor near the camera that isn't working correctly so just look for the resistor with the 3v rail on the other side and run a wire to both sides and that will override and keep LID_360D_SW# at 3.3v

That´s a good idea, thanks for the suggestion. Looking at the schematic, my laptop does not have the LID_360D_SW# signal. It is instead called TAB_SW# on my machine, I think. At least that is a signal coming from the sensor board, so it is probably meant to switch between laptop and tablet mode. But the 3.3V on that line are present and going straight into the EC.

before you do any hardware fixes you should try disabling the ymc.exe service. That is the yoga mode control and sometimes that enough. make sure that the keyboard and mouse will work outside of windows or otherswise it might not be a sensor issue at all

I already tried disabling the YMC service and the sensor entry in device manager but it didn´t help. I also tried booting into a live linux and the symptoms are the same. Keyboard is working fine in UEFI setup but not in the OS. Touchpad works normally in all situations. When in any OS, only one key on the keyboard responds ("del"). Someone else suggested it might be a faulty EC and I think that seems plausible.

it doesn't sound like it is stuck in tablet mode if the touchpad is working

I agree. Strange one. I ordered a pre-programmed new EC and will replace that once it arrives.
