Could someone explain weird charging behaviour?

So basically, i have a HP 11" stream laptop where the battery would not charge.

I assume battery dead, been left off too long so dead. Order a new battery (used but apparently working fine) and again it will not charge.

I'm starting to think perhaps its a BQ chip of some sort responsible for charging that isn't functioning.

I have another HP laptop its a bigger 14" model, different battery but uses the same connector. Checked the pinout of both batteries and they line up.

So hey might aswell try, both the original battery and new replacement both charge on the 14" laptop. I let them charge for 30mins or so each.

Put the batteries back into the 11" laptop and whoa now they both charge like normal.

Why is this?, trying to get my head around it for future trouble shooting.

Why would both batteries not charge from dead no voltage in the 11" but charged fine in the 14" and why are both now charging in the 11" once they had a bit of charge in them.

Anyway i could avoid this issue in future?

It is possible that the laptop that worked to charge the packs are able to deliver more current to initiate the charge cycle.

After the packs are partially charged, the current draw becomes less and then the original laptop can continue to charge the same packs.

Check the resistors current sensing usually 2ohms to 10ohms and check the trace to the sensing lines ACP ACN and SRP SRN also check your Mosfet drivers the gate use an oscilloscope to see you own . Should solve your issue
Ohh yes check the embedded controller scl and sdata going to battery connector check output 3.3v the pull-up resistor can check on oscilloscope your clk and smbus data

        A1990 2019 touchbar weird behaviour
        by arashmoayyedizadeh
Hello to all of you engineers
i have a macbook pro a1990 in no power condition
another shop had done some works on it with no success (pm ic was reflowed, a little bit of flux around one of the type c rom ic, changing the charging ic)
initial state: 5v 0amps on all 4 type c sockets
after some inspections i realized the charging ic that another shop installed is isl9239
I changed it with right one (isl9240) and the machine turned on and booted into macos
        weird behaviour:
Lcd works ok until it boots to os and as soon as you see login page it goes black...

troubleshooting microsoft surface pro 4 no power no led charge light
        by ipatch
hello, i have been sitting on some microsoft surface pro 4 tablets for a while now. i was originally tasked with replacing the battery in one of the tablets, and ended breaking the screen and logic board in the process. decided to buy another tablet with the same specs. got that screen off successfully of the second tablet. the logic board appeared good, but i guess i shorted something out in the installation process of the logic which i've read is a common issue if there is no barrier between the logic board and battery pins. all that said, i ate costs of the repair and have...

        Acer E5-573g weird behaviour
        by estabilito
Hello, i have in hands: E5-573g mb code: da0zrtmb6d0 rev D and it works weird:

When i plug the ac adapter to the wall socket and then plugging in dc jack to the laptop - laptop is clicking and doesnt turning on.
Weird thing is that when i first plug the dc jack into laptop and then plug the power cord to the wall socket - laptop turning on but doesnt charging battery - showing in windows "battery charging" but even after 24hours connected, battery is still 0%.

I replaced the charger - no effects - same behaviour,
i' ve changed the battery and...

Toshiba Satellite P70 with weird behaviour
        by Kambi13
Hello all, I'm dealing with a very weird behaviour in a Toshiba Satellite P70-A-12J.
It powers up normally, CPU fan is spinning at full speed, and as soon as it logs into Windows, the cpu fan slows down as expected, but so does the CPU, it won't go above 900Mhz, now the weirdest part about this is that the CPU and GPU temps starts to raise with no apparent reason as there is no CPU/GPU usage. So I teared it a part, and the only thing I found was that the CPU (wich is still socketed - It's a core i7 4700MQ) had melted plastic from within the socket itself in some of the pins, as you can...

Charge a L19D3PDA battery externally from the laptop
        by Klevjetack
Is there a way to externally charge a L19D3PDA battery from the laptop. I have a broken charging port on my laptop and am trying to find a way to charge the battery for it. I have been doing some research and I have found that there is a module, TP4056, that can be used to charge Li-ion batteries. It says it is used to charge single cell Li-ion batteries. The L19D3PDA battery is a three cell battery. Is it possible to use the module to charge my battery and it would just be very slow? Or would that be a bad idea. Is there a different kind of module I can use to charge my Li-ion three cell battery?...
