Hi. I have weird problem with macbook pro 16 820-01700. This is the second macbook with the same problem in two mounts. So after powering on macbook it works for few minutes than black screen, fan full speed for 1 second and than restart to apple logo and than again problem repeats. I have already rebelled gpu and reflowed mux chip but that haven't solved problem. No liquid spill, logicboard looks visually intact. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

You re-balled the GPU, but only reflowed the MUX? What made you suspect the GPU? Are you sure you re-balled the GPU properly/sufficiently? What made you suspect GPU over CPU? Lot of info needed for this since you've done so much work on the board already.Comment

Re: MacBook Pro 16" 820-01700 help troubleshoot
Thank you for reply. In safe mode macbook is working stable, no restart. So I suspect that something has to be wrong with gpu. It can be that GPU IC is defective and need to be replaced, but the symptoms are the same after reballing. I don't know.Last edited by piernov; 08-31-2022, 08:35 AM.Comment

by envymHi everyone!
I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.
I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...06-27-2025, 08:54 AM -
by Flasman90I have a 2020 Macbook Pro A2289 and after many attempts managed to get it into DFU mode, using my older 2017 A1706 Macbook Pro (Running Ventura 13.7.8). However, when attempting 'Restore', it fails at step 4 of 4, showing the following error:
- "The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error -1 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Generic error)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0xA (10)]

by SarcasticOPI am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
- PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
- This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
- PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
- This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
- PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)
