A2338 new M1 MacBook Pro problem Logic Board related after liquid spill 820-02020

Hello, I've got this Mac from a friend who spilled wine on it. MacBook boot right onto options screen and does not boot the os. Reinstalling Mac Os does not help, it does conclude but same option screen after install. If I try to select the startup disk it gives me "error SDErrorDomain 108" and it does not go forward. I cannot manage to enter DFU for whatever reason. I opened and found corrosion nearby trackpad socket and other components who I cannot identify as I don't have schematics, you can see the photos above. After try to clean with IPA I noticed that i've lost a pin on the trackpad connector board side, so trackpad now is not working after cleaning (my foult, maybe due to corrosion) but before screen, speakers, keyboard and trackpad was all working, except id does not boot in to os.
Any advice of what to check would be really appreciated!

PS I took photos before and after cleaning. Nothing changed, still no OS boot.

    UPDATE:

Now I'm able to boot MacOs.
Options boot loop was caused by faulty TouchID button, removing cleaning and putting back solve it. Error SDErrorDomain 108 setting up startup disk was override by wiping interl SSD and formatting to exFAT, then mac os journaled and again APFS before reinstalling MacOS again. Really dont know if it's just random behavour or lucky.
Anyway, it's seems all to be working, except for trackpad (waiting for new cable and logic board FPC connector) internal Fan (no fan spin) and TouchID (won't accept finger print, it does work only as on/off button).

    Any suggest?

      2’ND UDPATE:

After disassembly fan I noticed it was literally “glued” and sticky inside.. Wine does not meant to be drinked by laptops.. I cleaned and put in ultrasonic bath. Same for the touchID. Now both are fully working, also finger print.
Only trackpad remains, until I got ribbon cable and logic board connector FPC ( it seems that A2338 is common to A1706, so I ordered this one).
Hope that will successfully replace and work.
Last thing is the halo left on the backlight of LCD where liquid goes inside. So I will try to disassemble LCD and take of the foils inside it. I already replace a couple, but all of them have already broken LCD panel so the goal is not damage it while removing. If this is going to happen I need to replace both LCD panel and backlight foils.

        Hey slimmy182,

Thanks a lot buddy, the steps below helped me to get through a chronic issue which Apple & their next level support were struggling for last few weeks!

Error SDErrorDomain 108 setting up startup disk was override by wiping interl SSD and formatting to exFAT, then mac os journaled and again APFS before reinstalling MacOS again. Really dont know if it's just random behavour or lucky.

        You are a rockstar!

        Cheers,

a2338 2020 Macbook Pro liquid damaged won't turn on- weird issue
          by bigbadbios
          Hi,
I am trying to fix this liquid damaged 2020 Macbook pro and I noticed something weird.
When I push on/around the renesas 501cr0b IC, which appears to be a clock generator/ multiplier, If I apply lot of pressure, the device will reach 19.9 volts and seems to be trying to work.
I have thoroughly reflowed that area and completely removed that chip (there was some liquid stain in that area) but no help. I have just 5v 0a unless I apply the pressure.
Your help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

MacBook Pro A2338 liquid damage repair for a beginner?
          by dbuergi
          Hi all,

i have a A2338 with water damage on the logic board. Cleaning it showed some heavier corrosion around U7000 and surrounding caps. Some are totally broke.
I get 5,2v when using both USB-C Ports but until now i didn't make any more tests.
Since i'm a beginner i want to know next possible steps. I'm not afraid replacing the intersil 9240hi but the other parts with 1mm or 2mm scare me and i don't know where to get replacements.
I fixed other laptops but this ist my first apple device ....

A1466 Macbook Air (Liquid damage repair)
          by mon2
Hi. Recently serviced a damaged A1466 Macbook Air. Thought to post the issues and resolution for each.

Macbook AIR Model A1466 Diagnostic 09-01-2021

Issue: Liquid damaged (beer spill) Macbook AIR will not power up.

          Problems & Resolutions

          1) Attached Apple magsafe power adapter. No green / no orange light. This confirms the absence of the PP3V42_G3H voltage rail. The PP3V42_G3H rail is the primary voltage rail necessary to communicate with the magsafe power adapter to report the green or orange light status to the end user....

MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro Liquid Damage (820-02100)
          by mitchw
Got a MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16'' to rescue immediately after liquid accident - I got it in less than 30 minutes after the spill.
It got spilled from behind when the laptop was closed. It mostly affected the rear of the mainboard and the bottom of the LCD.

I quickly took it apart and washed the liquid residue off the mainboard.
The area around the UP800 had some light corrosion, but it just washed away with some IPA. Other areas looked undamaged.

The mainboard got a thorough cleaning, as did the top case and LCD connectors / cables.

          Now the laptop...
