Apple MacBook Air 13" A1932 2018. It's on. Touchpad clicks and board gets warm. There is no start-up sound and the display stays black. The audio board was defective after liquid damage. Nothing is visible on the logic board. bild comes with another logic board. So display and cable are intact! I have both logic boards here and can also measure on both.

Re: A1932 - Black screen, no startup sounds
With the adapter & known good LCD connected, what are the voltage readings for:
1) F8400, pin # 1
2) F8400, pin # 2
3) R8442, pin # 1 (EDP_BKLT_EN)
4) R8442, pin # 2 (BKLT_EN_R)
5) I2C_BKLT_SCL
6) I2C_BKLT_SDA
7) I2C_BKLT_SCL_R
8) I2C_BKLT_SDA_R

Re: A1932 - Black screen, no startup sounds
Compare notes with the working unit.
For the logic board with the working backlight, do you have the display connected ? Pretty sure that you will need to mate the display to allow for the logic board to turn on the backlight.
Respectively, need to check under the same conditions as the working board, if the backlight IC is being ENABLED on the non-working board ?
Is the DC input to the backlight fuse OK ?
The I2C pins are not stuck on the backlight IC ?
Proceed with patience and care to prevent damage.Comment

Re: A1932 - Black screen, no startup sounds
Ouch! They are commonly available on Aliexpress.
Being in this position, consider to flux and carefully remove the same IC off the non-working board and transplant onto this board and see if the backlight works.
Lots of flux & patience.Comment

Re: A1932 - Black screen, no startup sounds
Perhaps a different housemark.
Did the vendor state the part to be the same as the original backlight IC ?
Worth testing with 1 device.
Post the bottom side pic of the new part. The defective one needs to be replaced of course but do make a note of the pin #1 orientation for this surgery.Comment

Hello,
YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo
I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.
On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.
I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.
I changed the battery with a new and original battery.
I also had corrosion/oxidation on the... -

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

When the black screen appeared, my legion 5 pro was connected to my external monitor...

Laptop came in for a SSD upgrade, took everything apart to install the SSD.
Everything started after modifying BIOS settings to boot UEFI instead of Legacy.
Laptop works fine, i installed windows 10 and drivers/updates, everything works ok(when it works)
The black screen problem is random, maybe 5 out 10 times, laptop remains with the black screen, no image
Symptoms are:
- random black screen after displaying Acer logo... -
by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... - Loading...
