Hi, I have a MacBook Pro 16" it has liquid damage. With the power supply I only get 5.181 volts only on one USB-C plug! Left and right. See pictures.

LOL.
Remove both F7000 and F7001 fuses off the logic board.
No power to the logic board.
Measure the resistance to ground again using the fuse pads. We wish to know, is the short to ground on the power rail producer side or consumer side.
Post the measurements.Comment

Re: MacBook Apro 16" A2141 Just 5,181Volt
we have 11,5m ohms at pin1 and 0,35ohms at pin2
The fault is on the consumer side of this power rail due to the very low resistance on SMD pad # 2.
Confirm there are no shorts from this fuse removal and apply power again.
Meter in voltage mode -> check the voltage @ SMD pad # 1.
What voltage do you read with the meter ?
If this does not equal to PPBUS_G3H then most likely, U7000 is defective but need to do other checks.
Then, need to review where is the possible part that is shorted on this logic board. Voltage injection may be a good choice @ 0v8 with a power supply but wait till we confirm U7000 first.Comment

Re: MacBook Apro 16" A2141 Just 5,181Volt
Very good. Your U7000 appears to be alive but gets shutdown due to the excessive current draw from the low resistance = 0.35 ohms.
Short is downstream. Would you have a current limited power supply ?
Dial up 0v8 = 0.8 volts and try @ 2A and inject this onto pad # 2. This is because something downstream that is shorted. It could be a capacitor or perhaps a chip.
Using alcohol / thermal camera - review which part gets hot. Leave the voltage low (on purpose) so to not kill a low voltage device that may be shorted to this rail.
Suggest to apply the voltage and then remove and check for any warming of a component on the board. If required, increase the current but go slowly.Comment

Re: MacBook Apro 16" A2141 Just 5,181Volt
Do you have a variable power supply ? Need to keep the voltage low - just in case there is a short downstream to a sensitive component.
Suspecting a shorted tantalum capacitor but we do not know at this time.
If yes to the adjustable power supply - select at 0.8 volt (we want to keep it under 1 volt) for now. Then check for any part that is getting warm / hot to the touch or can mist alcohol. It is safe to pour alcohol over the parts you suspect and check for a quick dry of the liquid.
Red power supply lead on fuse pad # 2 (the one with the low resistance) + black power supply lead to ground.Comment

by soflesHi there.
I have Macbook Pro 16" 2019, model number A2141, motherboard number 820-01700. I have some problem with dedicated graphic card. When Macbook switches to dedicated GPU it is getting instantly hot and starts to show glitches on screen, then it freezes (trackpad is not clicking anymore) and shuts down.
I tried to reinstall MacOS But it was a pain, it started to show glitches in middle of installation and I could not finish it. I only was able to reinstall MacOS when I put Macbook outside (it is winter and -2 Celcius).
Now situation looks like this, If... -
by rilleyHello everyone,
I am new into this, sorry to post it here. I want to make this as a pet hobby project, as this mac is not urgent.
I have (Macbook Pro 13inch 2017mid) A1706 820-00923-A
My mac had liquid damage a long time ago, the connector from J8500 is damaged on pin 46 (PP5V_S0_ALSCAM_F), I guess the LCD/display panel is in short circuit, as I saw the connector from the LCD burned as well.
And the resistor L4004 is literally burned.
From what I see from the schematics, it does not affect any other rails, only the connection to the display... -
I HAVE A MACBOOK PRO A2141 820-01700 THIS BOARD IS PP2V5_NAND_SSD1 SHORT TO GROUND THEN I CHECK ONE SIDE U8600 IS SHORT THIS SIDE IS ONLY ONE CHIP U8600 OTHER SIDE
PP2V5_NAND_SSD1 IS OK AND U9100 U9200 U9300 U9400 IS ALSO OK Will removing the U8600 fix the board or will I have to install a new one

by Schluchti45Hello,
i ask if someone has a hint for me. I have a A2141. The original battery died and i replaced it with a new one form Ifixit. After the replacement the MacBook Boots only with the power supply.
Coconut Battery is recognize the battery but it is not charging. When i remove the power supply the MacBook is immediately dead. -
by tomtom67A friend brought his fresh-from-ebay macbook pro A2141 after he failed replacement keyboard plugging.
I fixed all the little problems he introduced.
I am unable to install macOS to this device. Both Sequoia and Catalina (from Internet Recovery) start to install, but after ~2-5 minutes into the installation the macbook does a hard restart (max fan spin for a split second, then reboot without chime).
I noticed what I think is a very high power consumption, like 20V/1.7A when activating WiFi for internet recovery, and more like 20V/3.7-4.1A while downloading the recovery... - Loading...
