    ACER e1-531 not charging .

    hi everyone
the laptop comes to me with water damage
i clean it and i fix the shorted (the short not in charging circuit) .
the laptop works fine with battery and with charger
but when i plug in the power supply to charge the battery the voltage becomes 16 v with high amps 5A and mosfet PQ9 becomes very hot

    i change the PQ9 PQ11 and charger ic BQ25A and PR52 and pq12 pq13 witout any change .

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode (2k).

    Check resistance of:

    source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
    source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
    gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

for each mosfet. Low readings are of concern.

Which exact mosfet was used for PQ9 ?

Wow. From the posted resistance values, each mosfet appears to be defective.

        Try the following:

        a) remove PQ9 off the logic board. Then measure the resistance again for the removed mosfet. Are the readings much different of the removed component ?

        b) with PQ9 removed - check the resistance of the PCB pads where PQ9 was soldered.

Post the values of PQ9 (when it is not on the board) & PCB pads with PQ9 removed.

Do not power up the logic board.

        c) Did you replace only PQ9 with the AO4496 ? No other mosfet has been replaced ?

          the problem solved
          i replace pq9 and pq10 with AO4456
          the laptop charging fine
          thank you for help .

I am trying to fix a Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57-536Q not charging issue, the laptop can boot from battery, adaptor or both. The battery LED is solid orange, but it doesn’t charge. The battery report from win11 looks normal, the acer care

🧵 [Help] Acer Aspire 5 A517-52G – Onboard RAM Removed, BIOS Mod Done, Battery Not Charging

            Hi everyone,

I have an Acer Aspire 5 A517-52G-53NB laptop.

The onboard (soldered) RAM was faulty, so I physically removed the chip.
I also successfully modified the BIOS using the SPD Removal Tool – the laptop now boots fine and works with an 8 GB DDR4 SO-DIMM installed.
            ✅ System status:
            • BIOS mod is done (SPD removed)
            • Laptop boots to Windows normally
            • RAM is detected and stable

            ❌ Problem:

            The battery is not charging:
            • Power adapter

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 not charging
            by CPUFiddler
Hi there. I am trying to repair an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 and it's giving me some trouble. I have access to SMD rework station, variable power supply, digital oscilloscope, thermal camera, multimeter, stereo microscope.
This laptop will boot and run from the power brick and/or the internal battery, but it will not charge the battery. NirSoft BattInfo tells me the charge/discharge currents, so I'm confident in saying that it's not charging. In addition, there's no increase in voltage at the battery connector when the laptop thinks it's charging, not even a few millivolts.
            I've downloaded...

Laptop Model: Acer Aspire 3 A314
            Motherboard Model: DA0Z8EMB8C0 - Model: Z8E
Charging IC: BQ24780 which I have repalced.

            Issue Description:
I'm experiencing an issue with the charging system on this laptop. The BQ24780 charging IC is not working as expected. The main problems are:
            1. ACDET is missing (0V):, Reading 0V on the ACDET pin.
            2. ACOK is not present (0V): Is missing as well.
            3. No SMBus signals (SDA and SCL are missing): The SDA and SCL signals for SMBus communication are not present. There is no clock (SCL) or data (SDA) activity on these lines.

Acer Nitro 5 not charging but working with battery
            by Source Code
            Hello Everyone

First I must say I am trying to learn electronics. I have an Acer Nitro 5. Board is LA-861P. The laptop does not charge but when it has battery life it would power on and work fine. I have use a multimeter to check the charger and I get 19v.

Input on PBQ3 mosfet is 19v but no output or very low voltage. The voltage on PCZ65 and PCZ48 is 2v and it keep dropping after putting the charger for a few second. Battery pin would give like 0.200v declining.

If I put the laptop off for like 2-3 months it would start charging again but I need to do this...
