I salvaged a IPad 4 from the e-waste recycle with a broken screen. It will take a charge and it is reset to factory default but when I try to set it up I get the Activation Lock screen and need to contact the owner for the apple id and password which would be highly impossible. What are the alternative other than returning it to the e-waste?? Since it has 64 gb of storage It would be a great fine to dedicate to running my OnSong app and music. I did scan this thread but unable to find any help so I though i'd make a new post. any help would be greatly appreciated. The obvious question is it stolen but no who would want to steel a 4 generation IPad with no apple support. Just trying to help the environment

Re: IPad activation lock
There are assorted shops that will sell you a legit serial #. Somehow they have access to them. You will then need to apply this serial # onto BGA device that is holding this locked value. Then solder it back. Believe this will work but you need to have the tools and crafty skills for the above.

So in that video just what is it that is being removed and do it have to be replaced? It appears it is being scraped off with a pair of tweezers and not needed afterwards?? Hope I am not asking to many silly questions.

in the video, it is a 3G model, it removes a resistance to transform it into Wifi only.
This was enough before for icloud bypass. but no longer works.
In your case, you just need to change the serial number. either unsolder the nand and reprogram it or otherwise with a purple cable

Re: IPad activation lock
Hi, you can bypass it with many software paying 10$ but every time ipad will be restored icloud lock cames back.
If you are not lucky (as many) with apple customer services another option is to buy (on aliexp e..y ) new kit of serial number bluetooth and wifi mac address and change it with serial cable in purple mode with tools like magiccfg
since you have a ipad pro 1 is still not supported, so you have to desolder the nand and change those values reprogramming it.
