    I have shortage on caps on GPU and on MB

    Hi ,

    I have this MB - 4730s_RAMONES-MV-6050A2465501-A01-0330-Final_2011
    Although on the MB it says it is version A02 -

    Many caps in the vicinity of the GPU and also on the GPU - AMD itself measure
    that they are in short.

    Is this a clear sign that the GPU is defective ??

    The MB starts / fan spins and then after some seconds it stops spinning.
    Then MB starts and after some seconds shuts down - it keeps repeating

    some caps on amd gpu does show short. Your problem may be graphics chip or may be elsewhere. You need to troubleshoot step by step.

      Thank you for replying.What I mean is that the caps on the AMD Graphics IC show short and get very warm /hot.
      So , the caps that are soldered around the GPU core on the green area of the IC .

      But other caps on the MB show a short also.My guess is that the Graphic ic is defective

        Short /= Short.

        mcplslg123 already mentioned, Low Readings at GPU Area are normal. You should do Basic troubleshooting:

        Measure Resistances to ground on all coils, Take a Picture and write the exact values there. And Share Schematics, If possible.

          Sorry , if my post was not so clear.This is what happens.
          When I connect the power supply , 19 V set , the voltage drops to ~ 10 V and the MB is drawing around 3 Amps.
          The used power is around 35 Watts.So there is a dead short.

          There are around 20 caps shorted to ground.Also caps soldered on the GPU ASSY.
          Some of these caps on GPU get very , very hot.

          So , it seems to me that the GPU will have to be replaced.

            low resistance even under 1ohm is ok BUT IN NEWER OR FAST GPU

            older gpu like this MUST have minimal few ohms on coils

            did u check high side mosfets for short before u idioticly inject 19V ? no? so U burn GPU
