Re: HP ENVY 15 no power

It indicates generally leaking capacitor or Freq or ripple effect

In short coil is filters and capacitor are there for smooth DC signal without any frequency mixed

If 5v effected then board will still run

But if 3.3v ic effected board will turn on for 1 sec

    Pq40 check

Re: HP ENVY 15 no power

          Interesting,Confirm 19v is fluctuating

          As per schematic diagram

It is 5vs5_s which is a suspend voltage and should generate after power button pressed

          And same case with 3v

S5 means state always in general but when we have 5vs5_s last s denotes suspend logic

Correct me if I am wrong

We need DSO or oscilloscope to check smooth DC signal or any ripple

          For your information only

According to signal sequence logic in general

En2 pin at pu11 is just there to generate ldo after we get vin, en1 at pu11 is to start the IC for work and generate 3vs5 at coil when s5_on comes.

1.6 voltage at pin is not ok it should be equal or more 2 volt as when you see datasheet there is 10ampere current source or some voltage source available which will set it up

                    Read zener diode in series

Suspend logic , you get voltage at coil after pressing power button

Always logic , you get voltage at coil before pressing power button

Re: HP ENVY 15 no power

Correction 5vs5_s is not suspend here
You are getting 5v before pressing power button

If zener is connected in series it will drop it's voltage and let remaining pass

If zener is in parallel it will let pass only depicted voltage
                      or maintain voltage

S5_on signal check with DSO or oscilloscope

You could have repaired it with DSO we can check clock ,data and frequency for any node.

Anyhow it is your decision , buy a good oscilloscope as it will reduce your repair time and it confirms which multimeter can not.

                              Digital storage oscilloscope

Buy uni t ---cost effective limited 100mhz

Digitally analyses of signal and voltage level.

                              Benefits

                              With oscilloscope

You can check rtc section 32.768khz clock

You can check green clock 25mhz, 14,MHz, etc

You can check phase of any ic output

It will clearly show frequency of clock

In case there is ripple or glitch in signal
                              In seconds you will find

In some cases battery plugin not charging
Smbus ,SDA and scl voltage value be correct 3.3v
But when you check with DSO it will show data or clock is missing at battery connector pins

You can check input and output of any coil without any doubt

You can check bios pin 1 chip select signal with DSO

It will go up then down then up and remains high
                              When you press power button

You can check any clock signal available

                              Many more

Watch videos how to set dso

                              Good luck

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                  Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                  Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Hope someone can give me some suggestions on this because i'm at my wits end with it...

I have an Envy 13-BA1565na here with an Intel Core i7 i7-1165G7 CPU (board is a LA-J475P Rev 1.0) which has an intermittent power button issue. The power button is integrated into the keyboard, and I have ruled out the keyboard, BIOS and battery as being the issue.

Basically, on mains power, the power button works fairly well. The first time you come to it after leving it sitting (either on charge or not on charge), it might take 2 or 3 presses of the button, but then the laptop boots...

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
