I replace the resistor with one I found on scrap board, 20K, but with that one the probleme remain the same :'( 0.5V on JRST2402 et board doesn't work.
What is wrong with that board? :/

remove the cap with +0.5V next to resister and see if the voltage 3.3V is stable

cap remove, it works! The problem is too find same cap now :/

Edit : the cap is 0.6ohm, so shorted, that explain everything. But My PSU doesn't show a short when I did put some voltage on JRST2402, strange?

Ok thanks, I'll check if I find one.
Last question, sorry i'm annoying I know
Can you explain what's the job of RTC_RST# function and why it prevent others power supply to start?

Again big thanks to save that PC

The cap on RTCRST# is required, high chances of the PCH not initializing properly if it's missing.

Thank you for you advise, unfortunatly I didn't find a cap and gave back the laptop to my familly. I think they let me know fast if it fail to start properly.
Is it dangerous or just unstable?
Can you explain the function of RTCRST? (just for me being less noob)

Re: Asus R702UA dead (missing voltage)

RTCRST# resets the Real Time Clock inside the PCH when it's pulled low. It also has the side effect of triggering a "clear CMOS", ie. resetting BIOS settings to the default.
The PCH cannot work if its Real Time Clock is not working so RTCRST# always has to be high.
The resistor and the capacitor act as time delay and stabilisation for this signal when the machine first receive power (after AC adapter, main battery and coin cell battery were all removed). Without the capacitor, the reset signal can come up "too soon" and the PCH may try to initialize the Real Time Clock while the RTC power rail isn't stable yet, causing it to crash.

Hello, I have the same board, with exactly the same problem. I measured the voltages and have the same results as alderick. I reprogrammed the bios, but the problem remains.
Do you have more info about the cap and resistor you jumped ?
I can find JRST2402 near the ram-slot, but I cannot seem to find this cap and resistor.
I can also not find a schematic or boardview to help

                                Hello,
I don't remember which side of the board that cap is but you can find it with multi meter in beep mode, one probe on JRST2402 (RTC_RST side not GND obviously) et try all caps around the SOC.

Reprogram bios is useless in that case, the only faulty thing was the cap, just find it and replace it.

In case someone else runs in to this problem, attached is an image of the cap that needed replacement.

Edit: if people ask about the value, it's something like MLCC 1uF 6.3v 10%

Hello everyone, right now I'm trying to repair or at least diagnose an Asus laptop.

                                        Laptop behaves as follow:
                                        • When plugging the charger, orange LED turns on (but no battery connected)
                                        • Pressing the power button turn on white LED indicator but nothing changes
                                        • Amperage is always around 0.030 Amps
                                        • Missing RAM DDR3 voltage (1.35V) and also all the ones around the SOC (VCCGT, VCCSA and VCCCORE)
I noticed that the RAM power driver is not sending the signal to the gates of the mosfets and I'm trying to find out if the IC is working properly or maybe it is not getting some signal to...

This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

                                        by BMCappelletti
                                        Long story short:
                                        - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
                                        - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
                                        - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
                                        - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...

This laptop has had a rough time by it's owner (my cousin ), I was told that it was spilled with coke several times, but how it continued to work is a mystery. Last year I was told that the laptop turned off under load and I confirmed the same thing. I had stuff to do and I left it in a corner. Months later I tried turning it on, but nothing was powering on. I took out my multi meter and I found out that the dedicated Nvidia GPU has a short to ground by putting positive multi meter probe on the GPU power coils and negative probe on the ground screw. I removed the GPU power coils,...

                                        Hey guys.

                                        Need help with this one.
Fan not spinning due to missing PWN Fan signal.
Also 5 seconds from powering up it freezes, unless in BIOS.
But as soon as Windows starts to load, it will freeze.
CPU is COLD / Room temp when it freezes.

I've replaced the CPU, same problem.
Replaced SIO/KBC IT8987e and reprogrammed - same problem.
                                        Replaced fan - same problem.
Replaced flex cable from board to daughterboard (which has fan connector on it) - same problem.
Checked the Thermal sensors around CPU and Board to the SIO/KBC and...
