Re: Asus R702UA dead (missing voltage)
Nice job, and thank you for the picture, I should have post one myself back in time.
Edit: if people ask about the value, it's something like MLCC 1uF 6.3v 10%

Re: Asus R702UA dead (missing voltage)
Hello,
I don't remember which side of the board that cap is but you can find it with multi meter in beep mode, one probe on JRST2402 (RTC_RST side not GND obviously) et try all caps around the SOC.
Reprogram bios is useless in that case, the only faulty thing was the cap, just find it and replace it.

Re: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 no post
I removed the PCH, the short on MB is gone, so it is fried like you said.
Since I don't have a BGA rework thingy, I'm gonna trash the MB.
Case closed, thanks for help.

Re: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 no post
Hello, thank you for the answer.
Without CPU same 1.3 ohms, and with only standby, it takes 3W at main socket, PCH warm but not as much as when I try to start MB.
PCH fried anyway so.
Can't change that thing, I should trash it I guess.

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 no post
Hi guys,
Recently my main desktop just die in the night (I shutdown before sleep), no idea why, already buy a new MB and CPU so nothing hurry.
The PC try to start but no post and code 49 on MB debug digit thingy.
The PCH is hot, CPU cold, 20W on main plug.
On PCH package there is some cms caps, 1.32ohm is it normal?
If i bring power on rail one by one, both 5V and 5v stb take power, ~0.6A.
Any idea or thing to check?
Thanks a lot.
Edit: I did backup M_BIOS and after copy B_BIOS into M_BIOS chip, without any cha...Last edited by alderick; 09-02-2021, 05:09 AM.

Re: LA-6911P discrete to UMA
Hello,
I would like to know if you had any success with that modification?
I have the same board with a dying GPU and I want to go to UMA too.
Thanks.

Re: Acer E5-575-39FE no voltage on battery
I'm so stupid, didn't even see the big switch next to the other one, when I press it, battery start deliver current and laptop is working on battery.
Thanks, case closed.

Re: Acer E5-575-39FE no voltage on battery
No, can you tell me how please?
If you mean the switch under the laptop we can reach by a small hole, I did check and it's working fine. 0.2 ohm when pressing and open circuit when release.Last edited by alderick; 11-30-2020, 09:01 AM.

Acer E5-575-39FE no voltage on battery
Hello guys,
Laptop have been dropped, broken screen and battery had no voltage on connector.
I replaced the screen and it's ok, but still no voltage on battery connector, 16.91V on cells, which is fine for 4cells battery.
I ordered a brand new battery from Acer, same thing, no voltage on it's connector.
Is this a MB issue?
I did some measurement on the bq24780s, but since there is no voltage on battery i'm not sure it's any help?
Thank for reading.

2 ACP 19

Re: Asus R702UA dead (missing voltage)
Thank you for you advise, unfortunatly I didn't find a cap and gave back the laptop to my familly. I think they let me know fast if it fail to start properly.
Is it dangerous or just unstable?
Can you explain the function of RTCRST? (just for me being less noob)

Last question, sorry i'm annoying I know
Can you explain what's the job of RTC_RST# function and why it prevent others power supply to start?
Again big thanks to save that PC

Re: Asus R702UA dead (missing voltage)
The laptop can live without that cap or same as the resistor I must replace it?

Re: Asus R702UA dead (missing voltage)
cap remove, it works! The problem is too find same cap now :/
Edit : the cap is 0.6ohm, so shorted, that explain everything. But My PSU doesn't show a short when I did put some voltage on JRST2402, strange?Last edited by alderick; 10-16-2020, 12:20 PM.

Re: Asus R702UA dead (missing voltage)
I replace the resistor with one I found on scrap board, 20K, but with that one the probleme remain the same :'( 0.5V on JRST2402 et board doesn't work.
What is wrong with that board? :/
