    Asus R702UA dead (missing voltage)

    Hello guys,

I have this laptop, can't figure it out what is the problem.
    The battery is dead 2V.
Few month ago the laptop died but just remove the battery 30sec and it went alive.
This time is different, I have 3.3V, 5V, 0.8V and 1.1V power supply alive even it's off, when I try to power on, white LED light, but no change on power supply, 4 of them still dead 0V (CPU and RAM)

    What should I check?

    Thanks!

Mainboard sticker say X705UAR, mainboard itself is X705UQ V2.2

      Thanks for reply.
I join a pic of the mobo with color spot, here the value:

      left red 3.32V
      left yellow 5.18V
      left green 1.87V

      blue 1.03V
      purple 0V
      white 0V
      right red 0V
      right yellow 0V

      3.25V on bios chip

The IC under ram power suply is uP9002P 8GR920
The IC for CPU is NCP81236A

I you want closer photo on a small zone I can do it.

      Thanks.

Not sure about the first part, but mosfet not shorted D/S or with G either.

          Ram coil to GND 166ohm
          RED coil 16 ohm
          white coil 8 ohm
          purple coil 80 ohm

With that 2 low resistance I believe there is something wrong with CPU?

Perhaps "Deep Sleep Well" issue. Do you have dc power supply?? If yes, then measure the consumption in off mode. Have you flashed bios??

@techtiger, you may get core voltage but no ram voltage on coil in soc platform as soon you plug the adapter. Just solved such a case on quanta Y11A mb where consumption was 0.080A as soon as you plug in dc supply with no dc jack light but vcore @1.72V present but no ram volatge on coil. It was a problem with DSW and that's the reason 3/5V ALW always remain on.

Hello mcplslg123, thanks for your help.
I have DC poxer supply, the board take 19mA when off, and 22mA when "on"
I try lot's of me clean, rebuild bios and even reflash ITE, nothing change.
                Any ideas?

since SOC cpu those coils show most of the time low resistance RAM coils also good what is your ITE XXX ?

does the pin 96 RSMRST when press PWRBTW goes to 0V & come back to 3.3V you have to check the requarments of the SIO now par exemple VACC VA EC ect

The pin 96 stay at 3.3V when I press the power button, while the white LED goes on.

Edit: found pin, VACC is 3.3V and VA_EC is 3.3V too.

Hello everyone, right now I'm trying to repair or at least diagnose an Asus laptop.

                                          Laptop behaves as follow:
                                          • When plugging the charger, orange LED turns on (but no battery connected)
                                          • Pressing the power button turn on white LED indicator but nothing changes
                                          • Amperage is always around 0.030 Amps
                                          • Missing RAM DDR3 voltage (1.35V) and also all the ones around the SOC (VCCGT, VCCSA and VCCCORE)
I noticed that the RAM power driver is not sending the signal to the gates of the mosfets and I'm trying to find out if the IC is working properly or maybe it is not getting some signal to...

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died

This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

Asus Chromebox CN62 - wrong chip put on BIOS reader
                                          by BMCappelletti
                                          Long story short:
                                          - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
                                          - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
                                          - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
                                          - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...

                                          Hello!
This laptop has had a rough time by it's owner (my cousin ), I was told that it was spilled with coke several times, but how it continued to work is a mystery. Last year I was told that the laptop turned off under load and I confirmed the same thing. I had stuff to do and I left it in a corner. Months later I tried turning it on, but nothing was powering on. I took out my multi meter and I found out that the dedicated Nvidia GPU has a short to ground by putting positive multi meter probe on the GPU power coils and negative probe on the ground screw. I removed the GPU power coils,...

                                          Hey guys.

                                          Need help with this one.
Fan not spinning due to missing PWN Fan signal.
Also 5 seconds from powering up it freezes, unless in BIOS.
But as soon as Windows starts to load, it will freeze.
CPU is COLD / Room temp when it freezes.

I've replaced the CPU, same problem.
Replaced SIO/KBC IT8987e and reprogrammed - same problem.
                                          Replaced fan - same problem.
Replaced flex cable from board to daughterboard (which has fan connector on it) - same problem.
Checked the Thermal sensors around CPU and Board to the SIO/KBC and...
