    HP 15-N008sc (Quanta 81-daou81mb6c0-rev-c) *DEAD*

    Hello,
can anoyne help me please? I have here one dead HP with Quanta 81 mainboard.
Looks completelly dead - no light near dc connector. It uses BQ738.

    results - measured without battery:
    1/ACN - 19.8V
    2/ACP - 19.8V
    3/CMSRC - 19.8V
    4/ACDRV - 24.8V
    5/ACOK - 3.2V
    6/ACDET - 2.8V
    7/IOUT - 0V
    8/SDA - 3.3V
    9/SCL - 3.3V
    10/ILIM - 3.3V
    11/BATDRV - 3V
    12/SRN - 3V
    13/SRM - 3V
    14/GND - GND
    15/LODRV - 0V
    16/REGN - 6V
    17/BTST - 6V
    18/HIDRV - 3V
    19/PHASE - 3V
    20/VCC - 19.8V

Authorised service returned this laptop as "unrepairable". Visually mainboard looks clean and i cannot see any blown part. ONLY what can i see is some solder flux around both bios ics u13 and u22...but this is maybe normal.

    Thx

S5 ON is missing to enable those 2 IC to output +3VS5 +5VS5,Now you have to check requirements of KB3940QF pin 101 122 19 64 you have to use a Original Adapter

hmmm and S5_ON is connected directly to U15 so is needed to change KB3940Q and reprogramm it?

...maybe will be better to put this mobo into trash

No need of changing SIO for the moment but might have to flash Bios but I need the voltage on SIO some pins supply to say it

pin 93 EC_POROK 0V (this shoul be 3.3V) to send info to PCH, can you check again pin 37 ECRST# when you press PWBT this voltage should go 0 to 3V or trace it back R427 47k test 47k is ok or C655 is good or not, can you back up the old BIOS bin and flash bios ?

                            Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

Hello , for some time I was studying Quanta U9x/8x schematics and the option to use both type of screen (LVDS 40 pin / eDP 30 pin).
In some cases to use LVDS screen PCB use converter IC RTD2132/6
Now I found an HP 15 F series U99 mainboard with RTD chip not populated and LVDS 40 pin lcd touch screen
at the same time I have another HP 15 N series with Quanta U92 mainboard and RTD2136 with eDP 30 pin lcd screen (no touch).
Maybe someone more experienced in the subject can clarify if is posible to change type of screen used with some resistors / bios options change.

                            i need help to repair a edm-033 ps2
history : as always hdmi port and usb ports destroyed after unplugged
after change them, ps5 dead too : 1 beep, no blue light. after inspection 1.8v power was shorted, and because of dead panasonic chip. after remove it : no short anymore
                            so i changed it
now i have got 5v stby,, 3.3v stby, 3.3v power, 1.8v power and no short on them
but the ps5 is dead again : 1 beep, near 10 seconds with power lines and then off, no blue light ...

i don't see any projection of liquid metal on pcb.
                            ...

                            Finding a dead short component
                            by Beton
                            Hi guys!
I searched for the term "dead short" in the forum but no specific thread came up however if I'm just blind and couldn't see the thread talking about this please forward me to that direction.
So my problem is I don't know how to find the source of a dead shorted voltage rail. Dead short = ~0 ohm resistance.
I have two VGAs (HD 4850 and HD 4870), both dead shorted to ground on the memory rail. I have the boardview file for the 4870 and the memory rail consists around ~7892346 capacitors...
I have a bench PSU and if I try to inject voltage the voltage...
