Many MSI models have bad hinges that breaks, and fan gets noisy when dust came in.

Every HP/Compaq I can remember gets hot very quickly

HP Pavillion dv6000, dv67000. To try to make the laptop thin, they made the plastic cover of the lcd screen very thin also. There is too much flex in the screen.
Also, the plastic bezel on the front of the screen is very poorly designed. The top edge of it sits right on the lcd ribbon tapes. Just a small bump, and you start to get the dreaded, coloured vertical lines.

Sounds more like something I expect with Soyo.

Maybe this is also why Soyo went under. My Soyo SY-K7VTA-B motherboard required a BIOS flash just to work right!

The Soyo had these problems until I flashed the BIOS:

        1. Freezes at idle. (This made me furious, I almost sent the motherboard and Athlon 900 Mhz socket 462 processor back!)

        2. If I change the multiplier, the board's female voice will bitch at me about the processor not being seated properly.
        ----------------

At least the Soyo SY-K7VTA-B didn't have GSC, Sacon, Chhsi or Lelon caps.
The Wendells lasted for at least about 6 years before I saw a minor bulge on one next to the ATX power connector.

Also sounds like it could be the BIOS undervolting the VDIMM.

        And...

I forgot about the Deer DR-250ATX PSU that I also had with it.

The board didn't like low temps, during a morning with the room temp at around 35 F, as soon as I turned it on, I get a lady's voice bitching about the video card not being seated properly.

I think the culprit was more related to the Deer PSU than the board caps, because when I opened up the Deer PSU after it was sitting for a while, it looked in bad shape, had dark spots on the PCB!

          DELL M5030, M5010, M5110, M5040...

Most of them have a problem with Northbridge which is usually an AMD 216-0752001 chip.
I have reballed and reflowed a ton of these laptops.
I am a computer salesman also, and almost 90% of sold DELL M5030 models came back to RMA after 1,5 years from sale date. Warranty for DELL laptops here is standard 3 years and every single repair cannot be charged to a customer until 3 year passes. DELL is sending faulty refurbished boards for exchange, and not one last more than a month.

And almost every other laptop with the AMD chips 216-0752001, 216-0674026,... has the same problem - blank screen after power on. The chips need to be reballed, reflowed or exchanged in order to fix a laptop.

I have a newer HP DV6 with quad core AMD CPU. When idling, the air coming out of the fan vent is barely warm. When stress testing, it gets warm, but nowhere near burning hot - seems like it has better cooling than its predecessor, the DV6000.

I agree with the compaqs though :P

Soldered wifi upgrade to wifi 7 BE200D2W from older AX2xx based moduels.
                by acedogblast
I have finally found a source for Intel's BE200 wifi soldered "1216" sized modules (not the larger 2230 removable M.2 modules) and I was wondering if it is possible to swap the older AX2xxD2W wifi 6/6e with this new wifi 7 module on a laptop. Supposedly both the BE200D2W and the older AX2xxD2W chips use the standard "M.2 1216 footprint" but with an additional inner-ring of pads. We have schematics of various laptops that use the AX2xxD2W chips on this forum. What we need is a schematic of a laptop that uses the new BE200D2W to check if the pinout is identical or not. Do anyone...

Firmware for older Toshiba TV 22CV100U
                by DarrenHD
HI all, Does anyone know if there exists an archive for older firmwares for Toshiba TV's? I've searched all over Toshiba's various websites and also on Dynabook's site (they say they deleted all old firmwares due to "server space". ) Toshiba has not replied to my request.

I'm looking for Firmware 1.07 for the 19/22/26/32 C100U series as described in this link:

                https://support.dynabook.com/support...tentId=2865076

                Thanks!

Tesla 13.7 body sculpt repair problem, need help with finding the thyristor marking.
                by loko
                Hello everyone.
I have a device that is used to shape the human body muscels and burns fat. Works on the principle of electromagnetic impulses. One thyristor in side is shorted which has only this unknown mark on it ( QC230301 ). I can't find any information about it anywhere on the Internet. I tried to replace that thyristor with one of 1.6kv 800A and after 5min. of work he has burned out again, which means that he is probably weak. There is no schematic diagram on the internet, but that didn't suprise me because all the transistors and chips that are on the boards have their markings...

                NO BODY MARKING Diode
                by dennis_elx33
                Hello Everyone,
I have 1 diode on a circuit that I suspected to be faulty because the forward and reverse bias has a voltage drop reading.
While compared to the reading of another diode from the next channel it won't read at reverse bias.
Now the problem is; it does not have any body marking.
So I tried to sketch the diagram and found out that it is connected to the base and collector of the C3632 transistor.
What do you think is this diode?
Can you please suggest what part number can i use to replace this faulty diode instead?

                Hoping that you...
