Asus ROG GL502VS - bricked BIOS

    Hi,
I bought an Asus ROG GL502VS (that was supposed to be) with bricked BIOS.
I flashed the BIOS found in this post with a CH340G.
Now I get light on the power button, caps lock and white power indicator but the screen stays off and the fans don't spin.
I can feel that CPU and GPU get hot.
I already tried resetting the CMOS using the 2 jumpers (SMD pads) near the RAM slots with no luck.
    Could somebody help me, please?
    Thanks in advance

Re: Asus ROG GL502VS - bricked BIOS

I discovered that the Parade PS8330B chip gets very hot, too hot to the touch.
    Could it be the culprit?

This is a Asus ROG GL502VSK, sorry for the mistake in the first post

Try with another bios first (check if on the bios there is the correct vbios version), if not work you have to start testing all the main voltages.
have you tried if it displays with HDMI ?

I already tried multiple BIOS dumps from other website and the behavior is always the same.
I have tried plugging a monitor in the HDMI port but I get nothing on the screen.
I would really love to start checking the voltages but I don't have a schematic for this laptop. How can I do?

That's a 1-to-1 DisplayPort 1.2 repeater. If it is the problem, will the PC boot without it?

Yeh, just gone through the parade datasheet .It says:
"Supports DisplayPort and HDMITM/DVI dual-mode output"
So, i do beleive PC will boot without it though not sure.

Asus use only boardview and for some board is available a small part of repair guide, unfortunately for this model a boardview isn't avilable.

For now I think I'll wait to desolder it since I don't have a new one.

I found boardview and repair guide for GL502VT. It's similar to my board but not quite the same. I can try to follow it..

Do you think that a debug card with ELPC support would be helpful in my case?

With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI - BIOS Help
                          by grimacelord
                          Hello,

I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.

I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.

The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.

Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                          Some issues
                          A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                          Things I tried

Bricked HP Probook 450 G7 Bios questions
                          by studdy05
Hp Probook 450 G7 s# SCD0348W35 had a locked BIOS. Bought BIOS and EC chips off Ebay that were supposed to match this machine - the 450 G7. Flashed in the BIOS on chip i bought using a CH341. BIOS unlocked next boot. Some error to contact HP. Entered BIOS and reset to system defaults and rebooted. Machine worked fine but every cold boot the contact HP message popped and everything else worked as fine. Assumed the error was from EC chip not matching BIOS that i just flashed in. So i flashed in the EC that was supposed to match from the EBay chip i bought and instant brick.

                          Ive got...
