    Asus X541NA power issue

Hi, i have a problem with a laptop Asus X541N (X541NA on MoBo).
It had something spilled on it and now it wont start...

12V power goes to battery and the charge indicator lights up, but it wont charge the battery (only 3V comes from the battery)

also charge indicator lights up even when no battery is connected...

I was wondering if any of you fine people have access to X541NA schematics, to know the place to start debugging?

or any tips? maybe someone of you have dealt with this kind of problem before?

    Thanks in advance!

have you tested the battery on another laptop or another battery on this laptop? what is the charger controller IC? Is there any corrosion near or on the charger controller IC?

havent tested the battery in other devices.

charge controller is this one: https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...2a8abce3d9.pdf
      there is no corrosion also.

and the laptop wont even try to turn on without battery...

If possible, take a photo of the spilling area on the mainboard and upload it here. Then, find the two 8-pin transistors near the power connector and measure voltage on their pins.

measure voltage of bq24780 and compare with diagram since its available.

take look at H6001 it has also a star as indicator, there must be a screw to connect both side of the ground connector.

Hi, I have a problem with this app top
The problem is that when the laptop is turned on with a charger without a battery, the battery connector is connected to the side base by the voltage tester while testing the voltage, and the laptop is turned off and it is no longer turned on. do

Request for this schematic, Asus X541NA, 60NB0E80-MB1230
mcplslg123 mentions above that it is available, but I can't find it here.
Issue is no power, first mosfet, ubiq m3056m (n-type 30v) checks out good, removing it shows gate and source are shorted. Battery is not charging, voltage won't make it past the mosfet. Bench power supply didn't show any power being consumed when mosfet was still soldered.

I meant diagram for BQ24780 is avlbl not the specific schematic for asus x541na. As far as your problem is concerned,do the following and report back.

                    01.Voltage on PIN1/4/8 of 1st and 2nd dc-in mosfet
                    02.Resistance between pin 1-4/pin1-8/pin4-8
03.Resistance on pin8 of 1st mosfet specific to ground.

                      Re: Asus X541NA power issue

Sorry for the delay. I am assuming that the second mosfet mentioned is the smaller one.
Voltages: black probe on first pin
                      1st mosfet:
                      1-4 short
                      1-8 15.4v
                      2nd mosfet:
                      1-4 short
                      1-8 short
                      Resistances:
                      1-4 1.7 ohms
                      1-8 0 ohms
                      4-8 OL
                      2nd mosfet:
                      1-4 1.7 ohms
                      1-8 4.3 ohms
                      4-8 5.1 ohms
                      Resistance pin 8-Ground: OL
Resistance of 1st mosfet out of board, discharged by pressing finger
                      1-4 OL
                      1-8 .7 ohms
                      4-8 OL

                        Re: Asus X541NA power issue

Nevermind, the second mosfet is shot, source to drain is shorted, source to gate is shorted, drain to gate is shorted. I should have done more work before I posted. The schematic is still needed, I have no idea what the 2nd mosfet is.

Found it, it looks to be a P0903BEA

                          Re: Asus X541NA power issue

I have 2 slightly different Asus boards with same issue. First mosfet stopped 19v because it was not getting 24v on its gate because second mosfet the small one had its gate shorted. Both boards have different number markings. And no datasheets available for both. It seems both are n type mosfets so I tried many different n type mosfets on both board but no battery charging. R everything else works fine. Any idea? Thanks

Come up with charging ic marking and voltage on all pins of charging IC. Then we can try to help

With or without battery. If not receiving 3.3v RTC signal from battery. may not work stably.

                                        Asus X541NA power issue

I also working on this board with same power issue... I'm sure and i found short, i just can't locate the short, the only part that getting very hot is the processor, is this mean's that the processor is shorted? i check the surrounding passive components around the processor and memory specially the capacitors they are short everyone of them. I really suspect the processor because it getting very hot once i put the power power adapter. see the attach picture, all voltage line (red) normal i think... except those in 0 volts. yellow color circles are shorted caps or v+ path i'm not sure what voltage are those I need a schematic, the blue circle is a mosfet that at first tested short but testing it out of circuit is good. I mentioned that the only part that is getting very hot is the processor, any thought? I don;t have a proper equipment to pull-off the processor, I need help for this... thank you
