UX31A fan always at max speed

    UX31A with 8G DDR3,
the fan is always at maximum speed, with the bios update or bios reprogramming there are no changes.
I've tried with a program that modifies the EC with no luck.
I know this problem is common on this laptop, but others are able to change speed with an EC hack
in this case the problem is probably in another place because this method does not work.

Cpu and other temp is very low, around 30-33 C°
          intel cpu test passed
I just tried to change the bios.
I try to reprogram the ME with the old bios.
The guys of dr. bios say it's a ME problem

You upgraded your motherboard, didn't you?
The newer motherboard model has a different model fan.
The old fan speed control is not compatible so it runs at 100%.

                UX31A (s)low transfer speed via USB 3.0
                by paparazzo79
I'm having issues with this laptop transferring files to external HDD 8 TB which on desktop PCs gives me transfer of up to 100-120 MB/s constantly.
On laptop is not HDD it's some sort of an SSD so that should not be an issue.
Ofc is not issue with external HDD since it gives me max speed.
All the drivers are installed I suppose okay (device manager pics).
There are no official drivers on website for laptop,so only W10 drivers are installed.
But 21-25 MB/s is not even USB 2.0 transfer rate.
So can anyone help me resolve this issue and get max speed over...

1980s Holz Her 2420 belt sander - Only works when speed control at maximum
                by Babbar
My fathers belt sander from the 80s which i very much would like to continue using has an issue with the speed control. The machine works fine on maximum speed but will not turn or give any sign of life when on any other setting. The speed control is a dial going from 1-6 although implemented as a potentiometer without distinct steps. I took the machine apart and measured each component individually, all components and measurements have been captioned in the attached pictures. The Triac did not get identified correctly using my cheapo component tester, i don't know if this is user error, if the...

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
                by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

Maximum speed should be marked on network ports
                by japlytic
I noted that a number of consumer entertainment devices have the maximum speed marked on the wired network port and considering that there are broadband plans faster than 100 Mbit, the wired network port can be a bottleneck since some routers do not have Gigabit (only 100 Mbit) support for the WAN port let alone the wired network ports.

One other thing: Certain low cost network cables only have two pairs which limits speed to 100 Mbit.

Dell ultra 7070 ,Foxconn PWM laptop case fan. Spins at 100% speed in failure mode.
                by kleung
I wanted to add to the knowledge base about a PWM case fan that it can fail at 100% speed.

On my Dell ultra 7070 (this is a 0.6 L pc so uses laptop parts); I had the case fan suddenly go 100% and I couldn't control it. I disconnected/reset bios and it was only solved when I swapped in a replacement fan.

I have tested and there is continuity between the 4 wires pins and the circuit board.

That is the extent of my troubleshooting. I took pictures of the circuit board but don't know what component would die (PWM controller?) that could cause this to happen....
