I wanted to add to the knowledge base about a PWM case fan that it can fail at 100% speed.
On my Dell ultra 7070 (this is a 0.6 L pc so uses laptop parts); I had the case fan suddenly go 100% and I couldn't control it. I disconnected/reset bios and it was only solved when I swapped in a replacement fan.
I have tested and there is continuity between the 4 wires pins and the circuit board.
That is the extent of my troubleshooting. I took pictures of the circuit board but don't know what component would die (PWM controller?) that could cause this to happen.
I've never heard of this before as I would expect a fan to fail at 0% spin speed; not 100%.
If anyone has any ideas, that would be appreciated.
The fan is a Foxconn DC Brushless Fan
Model PVB060B05H
DC 5v 0.78 A
