Sony 40V2500 fails to scan digital channels

    Hi!
I got this TV with a 3-blink fault code, replaced the Main Bd and now have a TV that functions, up to a point. The menu works and HDMI sources work fine. I have set the input for the antenna I'm using, CABLE>OFF.

Any channel scan takes about an hour. It sees like 100 analog channels, then asks if I want to proceed with digital channel scan. I indicate OK and the screen goes dark. It never finishes a digital channel scan or plays a broadcast signal.

    Three questions if you please:
Do I have to change firmware in the replaced Main board?
Is the symptom consistent with a tuner problem or a Main?
How can I troubleshoot the tuner board?

I recommend to always do a firmware update to the latest version whenever you change a Main Video Board because it might have a few bug fixes as well as the ability to work better with other functions. Some manufacturers can do it over the internet with the network and others require a usb to update. Go to the Sony website and see what the latest firmware version is available for your model and download it onto a usb in your case and follow installation instructions if it's newer than what you have installed. In your case the tuner board is not on the Main so the problem may be within it, not the Main. Try doing the firmware update first then do a channel scan and see if it will detect digital signals. If it does not then try replacing the tuner board.
