    Asus G73JH MXM or motherboard?

I have a customers laptop with the screen out, but also I can't get it to output to HDMI, VGA, even with the FN buttons, this is after windows boots (I hear it booting, can hit the power button and get it to shut down)

It has an MXM 5870, the LVDS is on the motherboard. Higher chance its GPU? It does boot windows, with no screen, but it does boot

how dare you ignore an admins post, i'll ban all of you!

just kidding, I already ordered the MXM card. Figured I would go with cheapest first

here is something I didn't know, some 40-pin LVDS cables from other laptops can actually destroy your screen. Second I hooked it up I saw a little light under the plastic, didn't see the component it was on, but the panel is dead (I was making sure the problem wasn't the cable-this was before I tested the HDMI/VGA). Funny thing is it burned that when the laptop was totally off (but plugged in)[the peter griffin in me laughed at but plugged]. You live you learn.

Rare are the compatible LVDS . Better always acquire the original one .

Asus VivoBook F510UA-AH51 won't run on battery after motherboard replacement
              by dhenion
I'm working on my sister's laptop: Asus VivoBook F510UA-AH51 - The motherboard died so I replaced it.

              The original board was:
              ASUS X510UNR REV 3.0 A

              The replacement board is:
              ASUS X510UNR REV 3.0 B (identical except B vs A - I couldn't find an A board anywhere. Visually they are identical.)

It boots right up on the replaced motherboard and everything works fine on the new motherboard - but it won't run off battery. When I disconnect the charger it immediately dies. When I plug it back in and reboot the system - it still shows the battery at...

              HP Envy 17-3290NR 3D Blank Screen - motherboard Louis V1.1 6050A2489901
              by Archimedes
Subject is a blank screen issue in HP Envy 17-3290NR 3D version laptop with motherboard Louis V1.1 6050A2489901 MB-A02. Production year is 2012. This one is a 2nd hand motherboard which I could use it for few months only. Suddenly no output from the internal display and also no signal from HDMI port then Windows out of order after few boots.

Caps lock working normally and no HP's caps-lock warning blinks. Making a hard reset and replacing the RAM sticks or using different slots didn't help.

Fans are spinning. Blindly could install windows11 and got the device manager...

              ASUS P5GC-MX motherboard recap
              by momaka
Here’s another motherboard that needed a full recap: an ASUS P5GC-MX.
This one was gifted to me some years ago by user Pentium 4, along with a few other goodies. It actually came in working order with no bulging or leaking caps. However, I noted there were United Chemicon KZG caps everywhere on the motherboard. The CPU VRM output (CPU V_core) was the only exception: it had only 2x KZG. The rest was 6x UCC TMV 4V 680 uF caps… which aren’t any good news either.

So here is what the motherboard looked like with its original caps:

              CPU VRM area up close…...

              Motherboard W26361-W84-X-02 - Black Screen
              by Stanley1843
              Hello to everyone.
My W26361-W84-X-02 motherboard starts but don't show image (no logo screen neither bios). Because, I have two of them I desoldered the bios chip from the no working motherboard and I soldered it to the working motherboard and the motherboard works OK, so the bios firmware isn't the problem. Below I took some measurements from the no working motherboard when is power on. Also, I replaced the RAM and didn't work again (maybe some pins from the RAM slot don't have the right voltage?). I replaced and the bios battery, and I made reset on the bios and again the problem didn't...

ASUS Zephyrus GA401I Severe Lag, Suspect Motherboard/Power Issue - Need Help Diagnosing
              by MakNCheese
              Hi everyone,

I'm having a serious issue with my ASUS Zephyrus GA401I (4 years old, worked perfectly until recently). The system is lagging heavily, even in the BIOS, and is charging extremely slowly (a few percent in hours), making it nearly unusable. I suspect a motherboard or power delivery issue.

              Symptoms:
              • Severe lag across the system, including BIOS navigation.
              • Slow boot times and unresponsive performance in Windows.
              • Battery charges very slowly (e.g., ~5% in 2–3 hours).
              • No error messages or BSODs, just extreme sluggishness.

              What I've Tried:
              • Replaced
