Dell N5010 turns off after max 30 seconds

    Hello,
I'm having fun with this laptop since a few days. Normally, on the board everything checks out yet still isn't working properly. The client brought it in with the laptop making 3 beeps but after first opening cleaning it up and placing in back togheter that error was gone. However, it wont stay on in bios, boot menu or cant load windows for it stops after ~30 seconds. I changed the CPU and ram but to no avail.

I'm sure something sends the wrong signal to the board that something is heating up but I'm not sure.

    The board is 48.4HH01.011.

The U3901 IC is controlling the thermal shutdown.

    Q3901 - Cpu sensor
Q3902 - System sensor if UMA, if discrete than it goes directly from GPU chip
Q3903 - T8 sensor (this sensor is for hw shutdown, under CPU)

    Also check Q3904

Thank you, I'll be back with what I've found out. Meantime the client called and let me know of the laptops history, he couldn't tell me exactly but it either had a reflow or a reball in another service.

I believe there must some contact problem with the vga chip and board. Weirdly enough, I put back the laptop back and started up well. Told the client it may either need a new chip or a serious reflow for now is working and I didnt want to stress the board for nothing.
