After 2 and a half year I found this dusted abandoned project. Created a Clean ME bios out of the uploaded file and it fired up on the first try.
Thanks.
Good reading. The client however turned up in my shop and told him that the laptop works with one ram so he requested to put together the laptop and will use it this way for the time being.
Thanks for the answers. ...
Board LA-5893P Rev: 1.0
So I've got this laptop that turns on but no video. Start pulling out rams at first only to notice it fires correctly with only one. Tested both rams separatly with memtest and they checked out to be good so I came to the conclussion that DIMM1 slot is defective but can a slot really be defective?
I checked the board but found no problems(to my best of skills) with it and I can only wonder if the fault is not within the PCH.
I'd like to know how other people solve this dilemma.
Lenovo Thinkpad bios pw or bios needed. edge 15 0301-GVG
The client wanted to dust off this old laptop of his, wanted new OS installed but has a master password on the bios which he totally forgot. I'd like to either rewrite the bios in the hopes of removing the pass so I can install new OS. Or maybe someone knows how to generate a master pass?
Lenovo Think Pad, Tye 0301-GVG, have the S/N too if needed.
Product ID: 0301GVG

The system reboots while running simple memtest otherwise I would have reinstaled the OS. The laptop doesnt have dedicated vga, only what the CPU provides....
Hi,
So I have this laptop that for no reason reboots when loads the OS. However, it stays on if I leave it in bios. I tried 3 different rams while running 3 different versions of memtest(many reboots) and came to the conclusion that it cannot be the rams nor cpu overheating cause I cleaned the fan(which was clean anyway).
The board is an NM-A281 and it went out of warrant like weeks ago.
I measured what I could on the board and everything seems to be okay.
Dont want to risk to update bios in fear of reboot.
Small bump for schematic. I managed to get a new bios but it still is locked and cant change anything within. I'm trying to locate where the SVP is on the board.
I believe there must some contact problem with the vga chip and board. Weirdly enough, I put back the laptop back and started up well. Told the client it may either need a new chip or a serious reflow for now is working and I didnt want to stress the board for nothing.
