hp DV6, turn offf after 2sec. no CPU power, only 0,5V ECPWROK signal

    Hello.
Have one DV6 taht power off after 2sec. and have no cpu power. i noticed that ECPWROK signal that drives max8774 is low, only 0.5V.

any idea? do u thing that MCP is bad?

Re: hp DV6, turn offf after 2sec. no CPU power, only 0,5V ECPWROK signal

    i do "SI MODIFY 1219", by moving part D34 > D50, Q44 > Q73, R557 > R830 and add D33

now signals is good but have only 5.3V on CPU_CORE from MAX8774

do i have to manualy modify CPU_VID0-5 to have 1.05V ?

      Hey KTM good morning ,

well cheking what have you wrote , and for my experience on does bloody DV6000 little bastard , not having the PMW temp control will not help in your case , its seems more a MCP problem that anything ,

but what do you read on KBC controler on S3 states ?

I can do other "SI MODIFY 1219" to make pwm temp working

but what signals do u mean?

well but this is like if you are driving you car and you almost have no gas on it , and sudently you put only 5 bucks of gas , you wont expect making much kilometers with 5 bucks , perhaps if you put 30 bucks well then you'lll drive for longer time , think i made myself clear !
I still think its a MCP problem but for that you must gives us the S3 states reading and also s5 once you press the on off

Re: hp DV6, turn offf after 2sec. no CPU power, only 0,5V ECPWROK signal

ok you now got at least a decent vcore , but my question is does the cpu get hot ?
when i mean S3 states , i mean the states send or received by the KBC , if KBC detect something not normal on S3 or S5 , then it will ask for shudown the machine for security .

So usually on dv6000 series laptop , shutoff problem , are caused by many problems , depending on each board model

                MCP version
                nf6150
and older northbdrige board are common fault .
but once again , wich is first your KB revision on board ?

                3926 or 3920 ?

                DNBSWON#1
                VRON
                NBSWON
                RSMRST
LID_EC (here you must have the powerboard attached !!
                MAINON
                SUSON

This you find on KBC pins , tell me values with pressing on ,, and then give me values of what happen to each signal once you press the ON button , chek carefully since some will only send a signal and will not stay always present .

another thing i advise , make a very carefully look out to the board , specially to QFN and small transistors .

let me know for we can carry on forward

0.99v low for this kind of processor . caps lock must blink indicating a bad cpu .

without modification , have you really found why ECPWROK was in low state ??????????

for modification , why don't you just remove D7 diode(page 30) to get ECPWROK in high state ???????

i dont wanna make this kind of selfrepair. that modification is recomended by HP so i think it will be better idea than removing D7.

its weird that in your list is voltages 0.9-1.1V so my other processors must work but didnt.

i agree with dycc i forgot you got AMD CPU so core voltage is bit low , but not working with the original cpu and outhers and only a semprom shows a bad bus to me between cpu and mcp , sceecially once you got a PWRGOOD block insyde the MCP .

i think i found it. i have some loose contact in CPU socket. the CPU_VID signals have no conponents in it so it must be in socket, because CPU_VID signal especially CPU_VID5 have floating voltage. i give him/socket/ a little reflow and it looks like it work again.
I put TK57 processor and have 1.12V and work.

Now i give processor little load to see its temperatures.

                                          Good morning.

I have posted here before and have gotten AMAZING advise (thank you!). I'm back for more. This BCaps Sub Forum is so well attended I thought I would post here.

This question is for an automotive application but has to do with what are essentially electrical questions and problem solving... If this is inappropriate I get it. Feel free to delete it or move the question.

What is a normal composite signal range for a C64?

                                          Hello all,

Working on my first C64 / Breadbin / 250407. Purchased as non-working. Getting black screen.

More detail below, but for those that want to get right to the question.... Here are a few waveforms comparing the Pin15 output on the VIC chip (luma/sync) to the pin 4 on the AV socket (composite signal).

My question is: Is the composite waveform range of 0.1v-1v too low for a c64?

                                          More detail:

PS4 fat has inconsistent signal after HDMI replacement

                                          Hi, guys!

I am not a professional, all I can do is solder stuff on the boards, so I would really appreciate it if someone with knowledge shares his experience/thoughts on a problem I have with a PS4 console.

My friend gave me an original fat PS4, board model SAB-001, with WLOD, that has been previously opened. I changed the HDMI port, couple of pads on the board were ripped, which I connected to the corresponding caps/resistors? Just did so as in a shown diagram (one of the ground pads I ripped off and left it not connected). However, there was still no signal, so...
