Hi I have an msi cr620 that suddenly turned off completely and now will not power up. I have tried another fully charged battery and another power supply, but the computer still has no lights at all and no fan running. No lights. It is dead. I have stripped it down to bare bones and tested the memory, tried a new hdd still no joy. I have the shematic and will start to go through the circuits, but I wondered if anyone has any hints about where to start, has anyone had this before and cured it etc. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: ms-16811 no power
When you plug in the charger does the led stay on?
Can you post a close up picture of the area around the power plug - both sides.
No voltages anywhere on the mainboard? - coils are easy to test. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: ms-16811 no power
The led on the charger stays on yes. No short there. There are no leds lit on the computer at all. I am away from home till Tuesday, but will post photos then. There is voltage on the board as far as pins 5,6,7 and 8 of PQ16 so DC_IN+ is present. that is as far as I got. I need to identify more components, but it will have to wait till Tuesday now. There is also no response with a freshly charged battery, so it has to be common to both voltage scources.Last edited by davegeer; 01-02-2015, 11:19 AM.

Re: ms-16811 no power
Well as you have some power t the motherboard I would have a good look at and test the button board and ribbon and connector. I see a button board on ebay.

Re: ms-16811 no power
Hi
Does anyone have a solution for this issue, as my dad has a msi A6200 laptop with this motherboard and exactly the same problem it wont turn on. No lights on the laptop and the light on the charger goes dim and flashes when connected to the laptop. I found the PQ16 chip on the board and tested to see how much voltage was going through and my dads multimeter was showing about 1/4 of a volt, that was through pins 4 and 8. All other pins on that chip showed no signs of power.
