It has been a while now. I wanted to let you know that I managed to get my laptop working. I replaced that 6259ahrtz again (seems like that my replaced chip was faulty after replacing it) and after resetting SMC, bang, magsafe LED started to glow bright green and after several seconds it started to charge battery and laptop powered up.
Seems like I was too joyful a bit too early. Today Macbook is still not charging and no magsafe lights. Tho it is working from battery. Somehow Macbook powered on from magsafe after replacing 625 chip and started to charge battery (amber light on magsafe) and it got it full. After that magsafe went green. Unfortunately after couple of hours there were no magsafe green anymore but it remained working on battery. I tried SMC reset but no luck this time. I tried other working Magsafe charger and even other working Magsafe DC board but that didn't make any difference. I disassembled laptop. I disconnected battery and attached magsafe. This time I read 0V on DC board.
I let motherboard be on table for about 10 minutes without any power source. After that I attached magsafe and then I got bright green light for a mere second and faded out, DC reading on magsafe board 0.6V and discharging.
Hi guys.
May I charge this model with 60 W charger?
I know it requires 80 W to charge, but don't want to buy one.
If it specifically requires and 60 W can damage macbook and vise versa, I guess I will have to buy 80 W one....
I have received this laptop which was described as "does not power on or accept charge." Battery shows no sign of charging when charger is plugged in, nor does the board show any signs of life when battery is unplugged and charger is plugged in. No light from the LED at all or any other indications of activity.
Board seems to have no shorts, all power rails are fine and show high resistance.
When charger is plugged in, voltage is present in 3.3V rail but absent in others....
The charging indicator light on my ASUS X54H laptop is always on even when the charger is disconnected.
Windows also shows ''Plugged in'' when charger is not connected.
This problem started year ago gradually, when unplugging the charger the charging light took several seconds to disappear, then minutes, and now almost always on even when unplugged for an entire day.
Strangely, before sometimes immediately when plugging in the charger the charging light went away, and later came back with it connected.
If I let battery run out and say it has 3% Windows will...
Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).
I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.
I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.
MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)...
