la-h482p rev 1.0 not reacting to power button

    Hi Everyone,

I have a la-h482p rev 1.0 on my desk that is not reacting to power button.
+ Every ALW a LO are present when battery is plugged (11.7V)
+ Charger shows charging led orange when charging and white LED when done charging.
    + EC_ON also high 3.1V
+ power button has 3v and goes down to 0 when pressed.
+ BIOS does not have 3v on the 8th pin (+3V_SPI never rises only 0.07milivolt risen after battery plugged)
+ PCH hase 1.5V on one capacitor on top nothing on the others
+ nothing gets hot only SIO and 3V/5V regulators are 22 C

Schematic can be found here: (LA-H492P same)
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...atics-la-h492p

What do you think Is that a PCH problem or should I try to reprogram the EC and BIOS?

+ Reflashed the original BIOS (08600) with cleaned ME.
+ plugged in the battery (since CMOS battery is not exists on this machine)
+ changed RAM to my known good ram
Laptop started then I have turned off and repeated it works. OK

    but..
Then I have reinstalled both original ram and 5 long 3 short back
after that reinstalled my known good ram...still 5 long 3 short. Tryed to remove battery and charger and holding down power button for1 minute but no luck and now when i try to turn it on it starts some weard loop on random caps flashes then reboot and another random flashes.

SOLUTION. After changing the RAM it needs a clean ME BIOS again to work. I dont know if I have ever encountered a thing like this.

I have asked the owner for the prehistory of the laptop couse seen some things that is odd.

      Here goes the prehistory
      Laptop charger died.
Owner got a new charger that has lower wattage.
Laptop only charged when it was turned off.
Owner used it from battery for a while
Battery started to wear off, only working half hour.
Owner brought new battery from ebay.
      New Battery dischaged
Laptop seems to charge cause amber led is on for 1 minute but in reality it is not charging. 0.027 amps drawn

Starting to think this battery is not fully compatible with this laptop.
I have seen it in other modells where battery can be used but newer charges.

Is the mb switching at all?
I think it should turn on even without backup battery-so battery is unlikely the cause here.

        Post more details.

MB Not giving any sign of life and pressing power button does not make the amp draw os PSU change.
This could also be because the charger is lower Wattage than it should (original 230amp and replacement is 90amp)

Brought a normal power adapter, after connecting charger and battery. the laptop turns on when power button pressed, BUT...
I have 5 long 3 short blinking on caps lock.
Now at least the battery charges
Tryed different rams and put it different sticks....no success.
Next step is flash bios with clean me.

              Try a hard reset.

A Caps Lock blinking with 5 long flashes followed by 3 short flashes on an HP laptop typically indicates a problem with the motherboard or CPU. This often means the computer doesn't detect the CPU. If you try to reset the BIOS by disconnecting the laptop from power, holding the power button for 30 seconds, and then attempting to power it on, it may resolve the issue.

                  Downloaded BIOS-es from HP website:
                  https://support.hp.com/hu-hu/drivers...ber=CND94617GD
This modell has 4 different BIOS that has 16Mb size. I have backed up the current one and its version is "08600" but Since the laptop been in a repair store I cannot trust the BIOS version is correct.
Tryed all 4 of them and only the 08601 is doing different caps lock LED codes on start, every other is giving 5 long 3 short.
08601 starts with the following. symptom:
Lptop starts 3 long caps lock LED flash, then restarts, 2 long CAPS LOCK flash then restarts. 1 long CAPS LOCK LED flash then resarts..then 1 short flash and resart 1 short flash restart forever loop.

What do you think? maybe EC flash?

Let go back to square 1.
costumer states that laptop worked from battery befor 5 long 3 short LED error code.
inspecting RAM voltages 1.2VDDQ is present and pullup resistor on DRAM_RESET is correct 470 ohms BUT DRAM_RESET has only 0,111 voltage.
