Opened the Mac again and... my chip is 4x3.
Also Winbond W25Q80DVUXIE, even though that's what's on the schematic, is smaller than the one on the board, with those marks mentioned.
Oh boy.Comment

We ordered 1 of everything. Your purple board will work for you (has all of the footprints) but also suggest to purchase the zero force socket for the 4x3. Apple has used both footprints across different models so sooner or later, it will be used.Comment

Will order the other adapter later.
Was hoping to make it work today. lol
Shit happens.Comment

Hi again,
Well, finaly got the adapter. Took the chip from the board but... neither my EZP2019 or CH341B reads it.
Tried different softwares and different settings. No luck.
Oh boy. Do I have to buy a new reader to me able to this MX25U64 eprom?Comment

by duwaneHi All.
I have an 820-02016 board (A2337 M1) that has come in for data recovery. Reported as liquid damage, but no visible evidence of any liquid damage.
Board was initially stuck at 5v, and current only spiking occasionally to around 400mA and cycling.
After initial troubleshooting, found that C7800 (which feeds the power rail PP5V_BSTLQ_VOUT_SPMU) was dead short to ground.
Replaced C7800 and short gone. Board still stuck at 5v. Current draw behaviour changed. It now spikes up for a second to around 100mA to 130mA, then drops down to... -
by erickircheyI am learning any help is appreciated I have a macbook 820-02016 that is stuck on 5v
I tested voltage on PPBUS_AON i get 12.6v and it drops to 11.3v I removed fuse f5200 pin 1 PPVBAT_AON_CHGR_REG Becomes stable and no longer fluctuates
Pin 1 on f5200 is .51 in diode mode
pin 2 is .46
Im not sure where to go from here any guidance would be appreciated!... -
by JonnxHello everybody,
I have seen a lot of posts about the A2237/A2338 about the 5V not boosting up to 20V issue, but none of them seem to have the exact problem as my board does.
My PPBUS_AON was measuring ~9.32V and the board kept power cycling, so I removed the fuse F5200 to measure PPVBAT_AON_CHGR_REG and indeed it was still 9.32V, but the board stopped power cycling. Then I measured U5200 values and got this:
U5200:
PPDCIN_AON_CHGR_R = 5.144V
AUX_DET = 1.287V
VDD = 2.767V
VDDP = 2.767V
AUX_OK = 0.848V
AMON = 0V

by BmetHi,
I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch A2238 M2 and it was stuck 5V with 0 amps. I measured some important lines and I found a short on PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN, I tried injecting 1v and I saw heat coming from the mPMU so I removed the pmu thinking that was the problem. I don't know why I didn't check the other side of the border but there it was, a shorted cap. I replaced the cap and the short was gone, so I reballed the PMU and put it on again but voltage was still stuck at 5V and the current was fluctuating between 0 and 0.45 amps. I checked under the thermal camera and I saw the mPM...04-02-2025, 05:02 PM -
hello everyone, let me ask, I have a macbook which is stuck at 5v and 0.03 A when tested with a usb tester. Previously I wanted to replace the screen on the device, but by accident I forgot to unplug the battery. This caused the MacBook to get stuck at 5v, previously I had replaced the CD3215 (U3100) IC because it was warm. After I replaced it the problem was still not resolved. Please guide. Thank you
