Customer came in with a board issue, board looks clean, board turns on, he did a software update and he got the infamous Apple boot loop logo. He took it to Apple and Apple said he needed a new board. They attempted to DFU revive restore etc no luck. The board is stuck on the (!) point. I tried DFU myself and no luck. Nothing, board boots up goes into DFU computer turns on with Apple logo when applying the patch and nothing it gets stuck at halfway point and hangs on. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this particular issue. Board isn't liquid damage from what I can tell and the board does turn on. Any ideas?

Update: Found the issue. Put a thermal camera on and the Touch Bar connectors were in the 100+ range. Disconnected them and did a DFU revive and success. Bad TouchBar will not let you DFU revive or restore.sigpic

Are you replacing the touch bar? May be you will find liquid damage under it?Comment

by hiltsuHi everyone, first post here – long-time reader though. I have a dead MacBook Air M1 (2020) that won't charge or power on.
Device info:
MacBook Air (M1, 2020)
Model j313ap (A2337, logic board 820-02016)
Symptom:
No charging, no power on at all.
Restore attempts:
Apple Configurator finds the MacBook in DFU mode, as Linux with lsusb: Bus 001 Device 021: ID 05ac:1227 Apple, Inc. Mobile Device (DFU Mode).
It looks like the MacBookAir is in firmware boot loop. I have tried to restore 14.x version and 26.2 (latest) version firmware,... -
by iMuhtasebA2338 - Pristine condition.. I took out of the board and inspected it.. nothing.. as if the computer is barely used even.
Anyway, customer said they tried erasing/formatting it and it got stuck on Apple logo preventing to go further.. I asked them why they tried to erase it from the first place? They said it turned off randomly once.. then they erased it and it worked out for a few days then it shut off again..
I put the computer in DFU; I downloaded the latest Ventura IPSW and restored it.. during the "Installing.." it restarts then it shows the exclamation...09-11-2023, 08:43 AM -

Getting 20volts 4amps battery charging, etc. Disconnected battery to see voltage and amps. Getting 20volts 0.135amps-0.139 with no battery connected. Disconnected trackpad to see what the fans would do, they go into full blast, odd behavior, plugged into an LCD external nothing displays, ok...this is freaking weird, going down this rabbit hole I keep trying everything. I even went out of my way and tested a working battery I had in stock at the store. LIKE Nope nothing same... -
by bigbadbiosHi,
I am trying to fix this liquid damaged 2020 Macbook pro and I noticed something weird.
When I push on/around the renesas 501cr0b IC, which appears to be a clock generator/ multiplier, If I apply lot of pressure, the device will reach 19.9 volts and seems to be trying to work.
I have thoroughly reflowed that area and completely removed that chip (there was some liquid stain in that area) but no help. I have just 5v 0a unless I apply the pressure.
Your help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! -
by silver60618Hi gang, I was hoping someone could help me. Im working on a A2338 Macbook, with torn off standoff posts for the connectors shield. The laptop works, but gets no trackpad/keyboard/haptic functions.
It looks like it just sits on a ground plane. The PPBUS_AON Pins are recieving 12v, pp3v3 present. I dont see any traces going to these pads or near vicinity.
Any ideas what I can check? Any help would be appreciated.... - Loading...
