Re: This wasn't supposed to work...
Actually, the Lenovo has had its replacement nvidia chip fitted for a few weeks now. Along with some other goodies, namely a T9300 CPU, a 64GB SSD and a good battery. It's running like a dream.
The GPU in this thing also overclocks further than anything i've ever seen from this series.Although in theory there's not anything special about a Quadro compared to a "consumer" GeForce GPU (it's the same chip), in practice, there is. A solid board design and the use of significantly faster memory make a big difference.
It is now my primary laptop, my Acer 5742G has been sitting idle next to my bed since i got the Lenovo. I'm waiting for a 2nd drive caddy to come from ebay so i can pull the DVD drive and install an additional hard disk for data storage, coz 60 gigs ain't a lot of space. Then i can call it complete.I first wanted to flip it and make a quick profit, but when i saw that it's got a 1680x1050 display with anti-glare treatment i changed my mind. Ahh, the joys of high resolution. Also the CCFL lamp is a lot more forgiving on the eyes than the new LED backlights - unless they're the expensive kind, LED backlit displays are just way too bluish.
Oh btw... The cat is a "him".And i'm the only one doing the black magic around here, i've pulled more tricks from my hat than i care to remember, and i just keep doing it.
He's just around for moral purring support.

by hollox123Hello, I have an "ASUS ROG Strix G713QR" laptop, and for approx. 3 months I have the following problems:
1. Laptop keyboard doesn't work
2. The backlight on the laptop keyboard doesn't work
3. The x2 side LEDs (red) on the laptop don't work
The power button works, the touchpad works, and all the USB, HDMI, Ethernet, etc. ports work.
I already tried to reinstall all the drivers and reinstall Windows. So I don't know what to try anymore that is software-related.
But I am strongly aiming that it is somehow a BIOS-related problem,... -
by resistor83hello everyone, I have a particular problem with this lenovo ideapad 330s-15ikb. I had to replace the motherboard due to liquid damage, after replacing it I noticed that some letters on the keyboard do not work. So I bought a new keyboard and now all the keys work except the numeric keypad area. In practice the num lock key LED always remains on and the numbers do not work. Has anything like this ever happened to you? I also tried changing the keyboard again but the same defect remains on the numeric keypad.
I tried updating the bios but the problem remains

Hello,
This is a Roland MC-505 synthesizer I bought used years ago and 1 of the knobs was bent.
Eventually it started 'ghost editing' by changing the parameter of this knob on its own.
I resoldered the 5 pins on this knob (the two larger solder spots above these 3 smaller ones is for the same knob).
Then it started happening again, or maybe the knob stopped working totally (I set it aside months ago and forgot about it).
I bought a replacement knob/Potentiometer but when I recently opened it up, it seems the previous repair... -
by langbaobaoHi.
I'm posting this here in part as a memo to self as well as to describe the procedure I used in case anyone else found it useful. I found a lot of the necessary information to make this work on this forum and I figured I would give something back. If this is not the appropriate place to post this, I don't mind it being deleted but I hope it can help other people.
I got an admin password locked HP Elitebook 840 G5 recently that I wanted to unlock. I'm a relative newcomer to reprogramming and unlocking firmware. The only previous experience I had was unlocking a BIOS...-

by sam_sam_samI just bought a used one for a decent price for a used device it prints very nicely and clean and clearly so I am not going to complain about it but I would like to get it working again anyone have any suggestions on how to repair this back light
If I can not get the controller to work properly then I will probably have an external power supply for the backlight because it is difficult to see the screen without out it
